- “Polis”, a sua necessidade, estrutura e aviltamento: Platão no seu melhorPublication . Pereira, AméricoPlatão nem sempre se situa intelectualmente num mesmo patamar de inteligência; por vezes, parece não perceber ter degradado o nível da sua reflexão. Este estudo não se dedica a tais momentos intelectuais platónicos menores, mas a apresentar alguns pontos fundamentais das suas intuições acerca da estrutura transcendental da realidade humana. Platão descobre, assim, os fundamentos lógicos e económicos da “polis”, bem como, por exemplo, a semelhante grandeza ontológica fundamental das mulheres em relação com os homens, apresentando ao mundo o fundamento lógico / ontológico da “polis”.
- Análise da relação entre o uso das redes sociais e o bem-estar psicológico em estudantes universitários jovensPublication . Maia, Teresa RodriguesO objetivo deste artigo de revisão é analisar a relação entre o uso das redes sociais e o bem-estar psicológico em jovens universitários. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura científica em bases de dados como Scopus, Scielo e Latindex, selecionando 10 artigos de revisão e 10 pesquisas originais para sua análise comparativa e organização em uma tabela de síntese. Os resultados evidenciam uma relação significativa entre o uso problemático das redes sociais e a diminuição do bem-estar psicológico em estudantes universitários, manifestando-se em sintomas como ansiedade, depressão, solidão e baixa autoestima. No entanto, também foram identificados efeitos positivos associados ao seu uso, tais como o fortalecimento da conectividade social e o senso de pertencimento a uma comunidade. No que diz respeito às implicações práticas, os achados destacam a importância de promover um uso responsável e equilibrado das redes sociais no contexto universitário, por meio da oferta de recursos e ferramentas que orientem os estudantes para práticas mais saudáveis. Da mesma forma, ressalta-se a necessidade de continuar investigando essa relação para compreendê-la com maior profundidade e desenvolver estratégias eficazes que favoreçam o bem-estar psicológico dos jovens universitários em ambientes digitais.
- From Portuguese colonial representations to racist endorsement: investigating correlational and causal pathsPublication . Meuer, Felix; Guerra, Rita; Madeira, Filipa; Valentim, Joaquim PiresDominant social representations of history play a central role in shaping how societies interpret the past and regulate intergroup relations in the present. Yet empirical evidence on how historical narratives causally influence racist beliefs remains limited. Drawing on the Social Representations of History framework, the present research examines how dominant and counter-representations of colonial history relate to the endorsement of biological and cultural racism. Focusing on the Portuguese context, where colonial history is often narrated through a positive and benevolent lens grounded in the ideology of Luso-tropicalism-the belief that Portuguese colonialism was uniquely tolerant and benign-we investigate both correlational and causal pathways linking these representations to racist attitudes. In Study 1 (N = 216), using data from CRONOS-2, part of the European Social Survey Round 10, we show that endorsement of Luso-tropicalist beliefs predicts higher levels of both biological and cultural racism, above and beyond age and education. In Study 2 (N = 220), we experimentally manipulated representations of colonial history using three conditions: a positive representation derived from a textbook, a negative representation, and a neutral control. Results indicate that biological racism was significantly lower when colonial history was presented in a negative frame compared to a combined positive and neutral representation, while no significant differences emerged for cultural racism. Together, findings from Study 1 and Study 2 provide novel evidence that counter, negative representations of colonial history can attenuate racist beliefs. By integrating correlational and experimental evidence, this research contributes to broader debates on social representations of history as political projects with enduring consequences for contemporary intergroup relations.
- Man's movement towards the eschatological communion of God in António QuadrosPublication . Dimas, SamuelThe Portuguese philosopher António Quadros, assuming himself as a free thinker, seeks to establish a dialogue between philosophy, theology, science, and religious spirituality, without giving up his institutional link to the Catholic Church. He identifies the manifestation of God in the sensitive reality of the Cosmos and in the spiritual reality of cultural creation, conceiving a teleological movement of all existence toward an eschatological plenitude of fraternal harmony and immortal coexistence. He develops a metaphysics that aims to rationally explain the relationship between the infinite divine initiative and the finite worldly dynamism conditioned by death and evil, that is, the relationship between necessary eternity and contingent temporality. We will seek to present in this study how the author conceives the teleological movement of divine providence in the context of a contemporary worldview that recognizes the autonomy of natural laws and free decisions in the historical development of the world.

Albuquerque, TicianaNos últimos anos, bureaus de tendências e empresas de consultoria da indústria da moda apontam cada vez mais contundentemente para uma tendência intra e pós pandêmica com foco no localismo: voltar os negócios cada vez mais para a comunidade. Esta pesquisa se dedica a analisar o perfil de marcas de moda autoral do Ceará, no nordeste do Brasil, com o intuito de verificar em suas estratégias comunicacionais na plataforma do Instagram, o uso de elementos da cultura local, que representem a cidade de Fortaleza, capital do estado, fazendo alusão à comunidade na qual estão inseridas. As marcas presentes no corpus desta pesquisa são: Ahazando, BABA e Parko e o período da pesquisa foi entre março de 2020 e abril de 2022. Para além da análise bibliográfica, a Análise de Conteúdo categorial, como sugere Lycarião (2021), foi a ferramenta metodológica escolhida para balizar as análises no campo da linguística tradicional e da hermenêutica. Procuramos teorizar no presente trabalho sobre tal tendência ao localismo, o simbolismo do consumo de moda, particularmente no Brasil, sobre a importância de utilizar elementos da cultura local como ferramenta mercadológica, tudo sobre o eixo do posicionamento das marcas pesquisadas e sua comunicação no Instagram.
- Remaking scenes from a marriage: social memory and the cross-cultural representation of the heteronormative couplePublication . Lopes, Pedro; Rico, MiguelThis article examines the 2021 adaptation Scenes from a Marriage, created by Hagai Levi, as a cross-cultural remake of Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 miniseries Scener ur ett äktenskap. Through a comparative analysis of their pilot episodes, the study examines the screenwriting strategies employed in adapting the narrative across distinct cultural, temporal, and ideological contexts. Beyond thematic and formal changes, the article highlights how shifting representations of intimacy, gender roles, and emotional conflict mirror broader transformations in social memory and cultural identity. Drawing on theories of adaptation and memory (Halbwachs, Hutcheon, Bazin), the remake is approached as both reinterpretation and cultural inscription, where fidelity to the original intersects with innovation in character construction, narrative framing, and emotional articulation. Particular attention is given to dramaturgical mechanisms such as the reversal of gender roles, the representation of abortion, and the meta-cinematic opening that foregrounds the constructed nature of fiction.
- Social work and neurosciences: speeches and theoretical contributionsPublication . Sacadura, M. João Cabral; Almeida, Helena NevesThe concept of “neuroscience” sometimes referred to as “the last frontier of biology” (Squire et al., 2008, p. 3) was introduced in the mid-1960s and is now recognized as a multidisciplinary field that analyzes the nervous system to understand the biological basis of human behavior. The ongoing developments and the arising production regarding the deepening of the structure, functions and functioning of the brain and its interaction with the environment enabled the identification of key elements reaching an unprecedented level of knowledge in the history of humankind. The multidisciplinary scientific approach, including non-clinical areas such as music, philosophy, education, mathematics, economics and physics, has also contributed to its further deepening. In the light of this scenario of interdependencies and disciplinary alliances, the discipline of the social and human sciences – social work – whose subject is conceived “from and for the practice” (Parton, 1996) in the day-to-day work with challenging social problems of various types and with different publics. Therefore, the present article aims to analyze what has been done to date since 2001, namely the input and contributions of authors and researchers in the field as well as to understand the input of neuroscience developments in their education and research. Also worth mentioning is the identification and relevance of the links between these domains which have contributed to the enrichment of the profession.

- Hibridação e aventura humanaPublication . Carneiro, RobertoNo presente artigo retomo e desenvolvo um anterior artigo sobre hibridação cultural. Começo por relacionar globalização e cultura, evidenciando como a convivência intensa de matrizes culturais pode levar a uma essencialização de identidades ou, ao invés, ao aprofundamento de interculturalidades híbridas. De seguida, argumento com a “planura” do mundo para vencer as concepções hegemónicas de cultura e gerar uma arquitectura nova de sociedade em rede, feita de espaços públicos e comunicacionais. Neste quadro, advogo para Portugal uma dupla hibridação, a de recuperação e a de antecipação. Refiro depois a grande oportunidade de aprofundamento dos 3+1 capitais a partir de uma gestão inteligente e humana dos novos fenómenos migratórios, para concluir citando o papel da aventura humana, na miscigenação e no policromatismo, em ordem à criação de sentido.
