  • Os CIO face à disrupção tecnológica e ao COVID-19

    A nova centralidade da informação nas organizações leva a questionar a evolução do papel do Gestor de Sistemas de Informação (CIO), sendo este um tema recorrente. Quais são os elementos desta mudança, em particular com a emergência disruptiva de empresas nativas digitais? Sem dúvida que a rápida evolução tecnológica e o aumento da utilização das Tecnologias da Informação (TI) estão definitivamente a impactar as atividades e responsabilidades do papel do CIO nas organizações, algo que se tornou ainda mais notório, recentemente, quando a pandemia COVID-19 voltou todas as atenções para o caráter imprescindível das TI. Apresenta-se neste artigo um estudo exploratório sobre as responsabilidades atribuídas ao CIO vistas à luz da disrupção tecnologia ao longo do tempo que permitiu percecionar a existência de uma consciência coletiva sobre a importância de um conjunto de tecnologias, e da confluência de algumas delas que, por um lado, ajudarão a definir uma orientação estratégica e, por outro, libertam o CIO de rotinas monocórdicas, sem descorar a sua atenção ao ContinuousNext que a aceleração tecnológica sugere.

  • Conception of a formative distance service about modalities of payment in e-commerce

    The paper starts with an overview of the state of the art in technology mediated service in the e-learning field about payments in the e-Commerce market. With the fast grow of distance learning technologies it is important to think about some innovations in the pedagogic strategies to improve education. The students have different learning styles and the tutor needs to support those needs, to ensure the quality of learning and keep them motivated. As an answer to a lack of organized information in this field we create a module about different modalities of payment in e-Commerce as a formative mediated technology service using the platform BlackBoard coursesites to deliver and mediate the instruction, supported in different types of communication (synchronous and asynchronous).

  • Desenvolvimento e validação de uma escala para avaliação de integração do LCMS no processo formativo no Ensino Superior

    Considering the importance of the management of Learning Content Management System (LCMS) in pedagogical strategy of higher education modernisation, it becomes essential to develop tools, reliable and adapted to the context, to collect students ' perceptions on the issue. Additionally, it is important that this information may be linked to other sources, in particular, with the reports of LCMS, in such a way as to promote a more coherent management. The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the scale "LCMS integration in teaching activities of higher education". The methodological approach to the subject has developed along three steps: 1- Identification and development of the dimensions and writing of individual items; 2-Validation of the content of the instrument by a panel of experts and graduate students with deep experience in the use of the LCMS; 3-Administration of scale and psychometric analysis. The dimensions of the final version of the scale are related very closely with information from reports of LCMS. The objective is to analyze, crossing information from two sources, a factor which potentially increases management effectiveness. It was constituted a convenience sample of 54 students attending undergraduate and master's Universidade Católica do Porto. The results suggest that the scale has good psychometric properties.

  • Evaluation of websites: the websites of Portuguese Higher Education Institutions

    The potential of the Internet as a communication channel for everyone, which allows balance between productions and consumption of information, has provided individuals and institutions to build a digital identity. This article presents the reflection and evaluation study conducted to websites of Portuguese Institutions of Public Higher Education, addressing the analysis on four main dimensions: accessibility, presentation, information and navigability. In the end we present the conclusions and implications draw from this study.

  • A internet das coisas como uma ferramenta auxiliar no ensino superior

    A Internet das Coisas (IdC) é essencialmente constituída por uma rede de objetos e dispositivos físicos que, como têm capacidade computacional e de comunicação via WEB, são capazes de recolher e transmitir dados de forma autónoma. Esta possibilidade tem sido utilizada, por exemplo, em sistemas remotos de telemedicina e monitoramento de pacientes. De forma a verificar se a IdC tem potencial para promover uma aprendizagem ativa de natureza interdisciplinar que promova o trabalho em equipa, o desenvolvimento de projetos e competências de comunicação científica no ensino superior, surgiu esta prova de conceito, de cariz misto, resultado do trabalho conjunto entre a Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia e a Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, ambas da Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Centro Regional do Porto. Para tal, um grupo de alunos do curso de Bioengenharia, através da integração dos conhecimentos e competências adquiridas, desenvolveu um dispositivo eletrónico, controlado por um microcontrolador do tipo arduino, para monitoramento de sinais vitais, frequência cardíaca e oxímetro, com a plataforma SOLL, Smart Objects Linked to Learnings, servindo como interface WEB. A partir dos dados recolhidos, provenientes de técnicas de observação e inquérito por questionário, verifica-se que a maioria dos alunos não conhecia a ferramenta e os que conheciam poucos já tinham utilizado. No entanto, os estudantes foram unânimes em considerar a ferramenta versátil, inovadora, intuitiva, com potencial para a aplicação prática e útil dos conteúdos ministrados em sala de aula.

  • Morfologia da Comunicação Cognitiva 2.0 em sala de aula no âmbito do Ensino Superior

    Novas formas de aprendizagem na Cloud Learning Environment permitem o desenho de actividades e a criação de recursos com potencial para serem usados em contexto de sala de aula no Ensino Superior. O presente trabalho objectiva apresentar os resultados preliminares muito satisfatórios obtidos com a exploração em sala de aula no ensino superior de uma apresentação Powerpoint com a integração da ferramenta de microblogging Twitter. A literatura foi analisada para determinar as dimensões a incluir num questionário aplicado a alunos de pós-graduação de três cursos diferentes, com o objectivo de problematizar a temática da comunicação cognitiva em contexto de sala de aula, alterando a perspectiva de um-para-muitos para de muitos-para-muitos com a mediação da tecnologia em tempo real.

  • SOLL platform and its perceived usefulness and ease

    The Internet of Things (IoT) appears with great educational potential, as it is a network composed of various objects and devices connected to the Internet, allowing the performance of interdisciplinary activities. Thus, it presents the SOLL platform: Smart Objects Linked to Learning, which, supported by a set of technologies that collect and store data from a greenhouse, allows dynamic, interactive and interdisciplinary learning and a synchronous or asynchronous evaluation. In this article, the platform architecture is exposed and, using a mixed methodology, student questionnaires and interviews with focus groups of teachers, the data obtained show that both teachers and students recognize perceived usefulness and ease on the platform, at least that it responds to the structure of the learning community, adopting a different learning model, with exploration and enrichment of educational information.

Thus, we present the SOLL platform: Intelligent Objects Linked to Learning, which, supported by a set of technologies that collect and store data from a greenhouse, allows dynamic, interactive and interdisciplinary learning and a synchronous or asynchronous evaluation. In this article, the platform architecture is exposed and, using a focus groups of teachers, the data obtained show that teachers recognize that they would adopt this innovation, at least that it responds to the structure of the learning com-munity, adopting a different learning model, with exploration and enrichment of educational information.

  • SOLL: Smart Objects Linked to Learning: educational platform with the Internet of Things

    The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network made up of various objects and devices connected to the Internet, that emerge with great potential for Education. In this sense, we intend to present the SOLL project: Smart Objects Linked to Learning, which is a learning, interactive, dynamic and interdisciplinary platform, supported by a set of technologies that collect and store data, from a greenhouse, for later interdisciplinary analysis. Thus, in this article, the architecture of the platform is exposed, and we also present a description of the components used to create this learning environment and a reflection on the provided learning.
