- Conversational AI for idea generation : the role of a user’s socioeconomic backgroundPublication . Oliveira, João Ricardo Figueira de; Delpero, Alessio; Kommol, ErikIn today's technological landscape, creativity remains a vital engine for organizations, driving innovation and problem-solving. This thesis explores the role of socioeconomic background in shaping Individual Absorptive Capacity in the context of enhancing creativity within AI-driven tasks, focusing on the efficacy of the Chain-of-Thought prompting strategy in users’ Learning Experiences. Additionally, it evaluates how time pressure influences the alignment of prompts with Chain-of-Thought principles and impacts users’ Learning Experiences, by examining the moderating effect of Absorptive Capacity in mitigating the impact of time pressure. Data was collected through a quantitative survey where participants were assessed on their socioeconomic context, their Absorptive Capacity level and their ability to generate prompts consistent with the Chain-of-Thought prompting strategy. A predefined dogmatic prompt following the Chain-of-Thought principles was used to compare the different responses. The results indicate that individuals with higher levels of Absorptive Capacity are more proficient in crafting prompts that align with Chain-of-Thought principles, impacting users’ Learning Experiences. Moreover, participants with an educational background in Social Sciences exhibited notably lower similarity scores to the dogmatic prompt, compared to those with a Business background, underscoring the importance of educational experiences and specializations in shaping individuals' Absorptive Capacity and learning outcomes. The findings regarding the influence of time pressure and the moderating effect of Absorptive Capacity were not statistically significant. Nevertheless, the study supports a significant positive relationship between Absorptive Capacity and prompt similarity with the Chain-ofThought prompting strategy, underscoring the potential of Absorptive Capacity in enhancing users’ Learning Experiences.
- Retaining talent in a context of economic crisis : case study of Argentina 2020-2024Publication . Lopez, Octavio; Parada, PedroThis thesis examines the challenges of retaining young professionals in Argentina from 2020 to 2024, amid economic instability, rising inflation, and a volatile labor market. The research focuses on how these conditions have influenced job satisfaction, talent retention, and emigration trends among the country9s young professionals. The study employs a mixedmethods approach, combining quantitative data from surveys with qualitative insights from interviews with HR professionals. Key findings reveal that competitive salaries, growth opportunities, and work-life balance are the primary factors influencing job satisfaction and retention. The impact of Argentina9s economic crisis, particularly high inflation and currency devaluation has driven many young professionals to seek remote work or emigrate for better opportunities abroad. As a result, companies face the challenge of retaining talent in an increasingly competitive global market. The research also highlights the shift in HR strategies, moving beyond traditional methods to focus on non-monetary incentives, such as professional development, flexible work arrangements, and fostering a positive organizational culture. These approaches align with the expectations of younger generations, who prioritize personal growth and meaningful work. By analyzing the current employment trends and HR practices, this thesis provides valuable insights for businesses in Argentina and other countries facing similar challenges in talent retention during economic crises.
- Metodologia playing to win : caso de estudo : Amorim Top SeriesPublication .
- Innovation proposal for peer-to-peer investment platforms leveraging blockchain technologyPublication . Zahartovskyi, Marko; Xavier, RuteThis thesis explores opportunities to innovate the business model of peer-to-peer (P2P) investment platforms through the application of blockchain technology, particularly concentrating on markets of developing countries. The primary objective is to identify and propose innovations to business models that not only generate profit but also create social value and support the economic development of these regions. A methodology incorporates both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with stakeholders in the form of potential international investors and Ukrainian entrepreneurs. Also, it addresses the analysis of the market landscape and identification of the generalised state-of-theart business model. Key findings lead to perceiving businesses seeking capital as the only customers while placing investors in the role of suppliers of capital resources. Also, research concludes that the needs of both categories can be satisfied by the same group of services: monitoring, audit, capacity-building and secondary market - while all these services can benefit from the transparent, trustless and efficient nature of blockchain. The feasibility analysis suggests that despite a competitive landscape, the proposed business model presents a viable opportunity for further development. However, it also proposes possible further developments of research, which would add to the understanding of the topic.

- Home Scape Home : a SME playing in the global board game marketPublication . Melgar, Alejandro René Behrens; Guedes, NunoThe Dissertation explores the internationalization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through a Case Study on Home Scape Home (HSH), a French board game company that transforms traditional gaming into digital. This unique formula of combining actual board games with internet verification and activity for clues has provided HSH real success domestically. Nonetheless, as HSH endeavors to go global, it faces considerable challenges stemming from the difficulties associated with operating in new markets and adapting its brand to local cultures to remain competitive. The Case Study traces HSH's strategic trajectory, assesses its international business model fit, and evaluates its operational, marketing, and distribution strategies. The literature review addresses topics related to the issues raised by the case, such as innovation, social responsibility, and consumer engagement through SME internationalization, with a focus on sustainability and digital disadvantages. The analysis provided in the Teaching Note suggests that SMEs can revitalize global competitiveness by embedding technological advancements and sustainable practices into their corporate strategies, complemented by flexibility in market adaptation. The major recommendations for HSH to expand globally include using digital marketing channels, fostering collaboration with strategic partners, and benefiting from rising demand for ethical products. Through these findings, a blueprint is proposed by which HSH, and other similar SMEs, can escalate growth without sacrificing brand integrity or product quality in an often-merciless international market.
- Navigating crisis : assessing cognitive interference theory’s role in individual and business crisis learning and possibilities for enhancementPublication . Pogliese, Marika; Huynh, Chang-WaIn today's intricate organizational environment, crises are no longer uncommon, unforeseeable occurrences but are turning into regular obstacles that organizations need to manage. For this reason, organisational learning has gained significant attention in the crisis management literature as a key capability for companies to adapt, survive and maintain competitive advantage. Nevertheless, a question that remains unresolved in the literature is whether crises truly present a chance for learning, particularly given the cognitive constraints they pose on individuals. This thesis, therefore, investigates the role of cognitive load in affecting both individual and organizational learning during crises, an important yet overlooked topic in crisis management research. Based on Cognitive Load Theory (CLT), the study explores if cognitive load in crisis scenarios influences learning of individuals and whether to a positive or negative extent, questioning possible ways to optimise the effects of the construct on learning. Through online experimental research, the study exposed participants to a crisis scenario assigning them to different conditions, one of which experienced cognitive load, to evaluate whether a) being subjected to cognitive load affected their learning performance and b) optimising cognitive load sources by presenting different instructional information could shape the level of cognitive load, influencing learning positively. The results indicate that although cognitive load has been vastly studied to impair individual performance, it can yield positive learning outcomes if managed effectively, specifically if instructions for learning are simplified and individual mental processes for memorisation are stimulated.
