- New media technologies to enhance learning and audience engagement in cultural institutionsPublication . Theubet, Jessica Ginette Georgette; Silva, Ana Luísa dos Santos Diniz daNew media technologies have drastically changed most aspects of our daily lives in a short time span. They have become ubiquitous in the workspace, they have made their way to our homes and remarkably changed the ways by which knowledge is disseminated. The growing pervasiveness of those technologies has led to fundamental transformations in cultural institutions’ organisational factors on a global scale (Bearman and Geber 2008, 387). New media technologies have also contributed to changing educational institutions on a managerial level and on a pedagogical level; they have paved the way for the digitalisation of the classroom and for more interactive ways of learning, some of whose concepts have been implemented in cultural institutions for the dissemination of knowledge. In this internship report, we will particularly drive our attention towards the use of new media technologies in cultural institutions and to the correlation between those technologies, audience engagement and learning experience enhancement within cultural institutions. It is our belief that such technologies have the potential to enhance cultural institutions’ educational programs, strengthen audience engagement, and create stronger and more genuine links between traditional institutions and the audience. In this report, we will qualitatively and critically shed light on how new media technologies have fundamentally contributed to changing audience engagement and ways of learning within the cultural institution. We will put the highlight on the institutional shifts and extensions that new media technologies gave rise to. Then, we will drive our attention towards the educational possibilities that those technologies have led to, we will see how new media technologies can contribute to improving engagement and learning for audiences with disabilities, and we will, finally, shed light on the experiential metamorphoses that new media technologies have induced within cultural institutions. We will use our case study, which is a Viennese augmented reality application named Artivive, in order strengthen our analyses and respond to our research question.

129.º, n.º 1, alínea d) do CT. 11.º, 258.º e ss. do CT.

- Student's online learning readiness in times of Covid-19: self-report of undergraduate psychology students in PortugalPublication . Carvalho, Marisa Simões; Cunha, Rosário SerrãoIn times such as these of world pandemic where the spread of COVID-19 has resulted in the shutdown of schools and universities for face-to-face learning activities, the use of digital technology was intensified. The online learning environment is different to the regular classroom environment. Technology may offer multiple opportunities for learning and diverse means for teaching. The use of technological solutions to enable the continuity of learning from home raised challenges to continue effective teaching-learning processes. Considering online learning, some dimensions have been identified as relevant for learning to occur and be effective. Students’ readiness for online learning is one of these dimensions. This brief study aimed to measure undergraduate Psychology students’ online learning readiness at a Portuguese university. Participants exhibited above-medium levels of readiness toward online learning and presented highest readiness in the subscale of technical skills, followed by communication competencies, and the lowest readiness in the subscales related to social competencies both with classmates and the instructor/teacher. From these results, we can derive implications for teaching practice.

- Learning with platform SOLLPublication . Magalhães, Andreia M. B.; Alves, José J. Matias; Andrade, António M. V. deTechnology has become fundamental for distance learning and the establishment of social interaction. In this way, the Internet of Things (IoT), has emerged with great potential for education due to its being a network composed of various objects and devices connected to the Internet, therefore allowing for the performance of interdisciplinary activities. Thus, the SOLL (Smart Objects Linked to Learning) platform has been introduced which, supported by a set of technologies that collect and store data from a greenhouse, allows for dynamic, interactive and interdisciplinary learning, with synchronous and asynchronous assessment. In this article, the platform's architecture is described and from a mixed methodology, student questionnaires and teacher focus group interviews, the data obtained show that this platform responds to the learning community structure, by adopting a different learning model, based on the exploration and enrichment of educational experiences.
