- Creativity and authentic leadership : a study in the Portuguese banking sectorPublication . Baptista, Mariana Bernardo de Mendonça; Nogueira, Sara Maria Leitão Jorge Marques de Almeida de Ibérico; Almeida, LeonorConsidering the importance of creativity in organisations, it is fundamental to understand which factors influence it. The workplace factors have a great influence on the individual’s creative process, both positively and negatively. Also, the type of leadership, as for instance the authentic leadership, is another factor that influences creativity, as the leader stimulates the workers to create new ideas. This study has the purpose of characterising the authentic leadership levels, the conditions to create in the workplace, and the levels of creativity in the Portuguese Banking sector. Moreover, a possible correlation between creativity levels and the factors that have an influence on them, such as authentic leadership, as well as the workplace factors that may have a positive or negative effect. The convenience sample has 202 employees from seven different bank institutions, 103 (51%) female and 99 (49%) male, with ages ranging between 24 and 62 years old (M=42.79). It was used a socio-demographic questionnaire and three instruments: the Test for Creative Thinking-Drawing Production (Urban and Jellen, 1996) which evaluates creativity, the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ, Portuguese version by Rego et al. 2012) to evaluate the type of leadership, and a test to evaluate the favourable and unfavourable factors for creativity (Indicators of conditions to create in the workplace (ICCW, Bruno-Faria & Veiga, 2015). The obtained results display a correlation between the favourable factor for creativity in the workplace and the creativity Adaptiveness factor. There are more correlations between the conditions to create in the workplace and creativity in the private sector than in the public sector. Para investigações sugere-se que se faça a validação do ICCW e se investigue a relação entre a liderança autentica e os factores de ambiente de trabalho para a criatividade.
- Original vs Smell-alike : a study of purchase intention drivers in the perfumes categoryPublication . Serina, Inês Pinto; Romeiro, PauloThis study aims to understand which factors influence the purchase intention of perfumes by making a comparative analysis between original and imitation perfume brands. The latter have the exactly same fragrance as the original perfume but they are sold at a much lower price. Therefore, this evidence of a possible threat for original perfume retailers is going to be demystified. The theory of planned behavior was applied in order to understand what drives purchase intention. Furthermore, it was hypothesized that there is a performance and social risk associated with the purchase of perfumes and that could be the factor that differentiates the intention to purchase original perfumes instead of imitations. An online survey was conducted and the main findings were that attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control impact positively the purchase intention of perfumes. Moreover, when a customer believes that there is a price-quality inference relation, they tend to have a negative attitude towards imitation perfumes. Additionally, only performance risk influences negatively the purchase intention of perfumes. Finally, there was no evidence of differences between all the drivers influencing purchase intention regardless the kind of perfume. This study would be helpful for all managers of perfumes to gain insights in a way to increase consumers purchase intention. Improvement of quality perceptions, ensure good guarantees supported by good services, certify easy availability of resources and opportunities and launch marketing campaigns encouraging word-of-mouth communication are some possible strategies presented as main conclusions.
- Premium private labels : the influence of involvement, perceived quality and previous experience on purchase intentionPublication . Kruschwitz, Johanna Sophie; Romeiro, PauloFollowing the trend of private label (PL) growth across Europe, many retailers already introduced different tiers such as premium private labels (PPLs) that offer shoppers quality equal or even higher to National Brands (NBs). For managers, it is important to understand consumer-specific factors that influence the purchase intention of PPLs. After conducting an online experimental survey (four different stimuli), this research’s findings indicate that quality perceptions between NBs and PPLs have become blurred. This research additionally contributes to existing literature by accounting for hedonic and utilitarian dimensions of PPLs by comparing two different product types with no significant differences in the perception of these products found. Furthermore, the influence of different variables on purchase intention such as involvement, previous experience, and perceived quality has been studied. For involvement, the results showed that the level of involvement negatively influenced the quality perception and the purchase intention for PPLs. Perceived quality was the most important factor influencing purchase intention Additionally, the results showed that positive previous experience with PLs positively influenced the perceived quality and positive crossbranding learning effects exist between regular PLs and PPLs. Furthermore, the research found a positive correlation between previous experience and satisfaction with PLs. To this end, this research recommends managers to expand their PL portfolio to categories with low involvement, with good and popular pre-existing regular PLs and to continue to invest in measures that enhance the quality perception of PLs as well as PPLs.

These appear as crucial to modern organizations that aim to obtain competitive advantages in a globalized market. The present study aims to analyse, according to the perceptions of the subordinates, the leader’s levels of virtuous leadership and the subordinates’ creativity level while exploring the existing relationship between the two, within the Delta Cafés employees. The differences between the levels of Virtuous Leadership and Creativity according to some social-demographic variables will also be analysed. Regarding the main results, individuals with 12th grade education, from a less instructed middle class and the ones who receive weekly feedbacks, seem to perceive more virtuosity in their leader’s leadership practices, as well as men being on average more creative and showing a higher tendency to innovate. Moreover, the results show no correlation between the levels of Virtuous Leadership and Creativity. This research further indicates limitations and implications, as well as cues for future research.
É hábito as famílias sentarem juntas e assistir as telenovelas.
