O tema "Riqueza e Sentido dos Afetos", trabalhado no âmbito da disciplina de Educação Moral e Religiosa Católica (EMRC), foca-se na importância da afetividade e da sexualidade no desenvolvimento integral da pessoa, sobretudo durante a adolescência. Este tema revela-se central porque a adolescência é uma fase crítica de transição, onde ocorrem mudanças significativas tanto no plano físico quanto emocional e social. Durante este período, os jovens formam a personalidade e começam a compreender o valor dos afetos, das relações interpessoais e das escolhas éticas que irão moldar as suas vidas. A afetividade é definida no nosso trabalho como a capacidade natural do ser humano de experimentar sentimentos e emoções, como amor, amizade, compaixão, e até sentimentos de dor ou perda. Esses sentimentos são essenciais para o desenvolvimento pessoal, social e moral, pois ajudam os jovens a compreenderem melhor a si mesmos e aos outros, estabelecendo laços saudáveis e responsáveis. Este aspeto torna-se ainda mais relevante na fase da adolescência, onde a construção de uma identidade própria e a necessidade de pertença social são intensificadas. A sexualidade, por sua vez, é abordada como um elemento intrínseco à condição humana, afetando profundamente a identidade e a personalidade das pessoas. O trabalho sublinha que a sexualidade deve ser entendida e vivida de forma consciente e responsável, promovendo um entendimento positivo e ético sobre o corpo e as relações humanas. No contexto da EMRC, o tema dos afetos é abordado através de uma perspetiva educativa, permitindo que os alunos reflitam sobre a dimensão afetiva e sexual do ser humano. Esta reflexão ajuda os jovens a desenvolverem a capacidade de viver os seus afetos de maneira equilibrada e construtiva, valorizando as relações e a dignidade humana. O objetivo é conduzir os alunos a reconhecerem que os afetos fazem parte da vida e que precisam ser orientados de maneira ética. O programa de EMRC, ao tratar este tema, também apresenta uma perspetiva cristã sobre o valor dos afetos, relacionando-os com o conceito de "dom". A afetividade é vista como uma dádiva, e o amor, na tradição cristã, é o valor central que orienta todas as relações humanas. A partir deste ponto de vista, os alunos são incentivados a ver o amor não apenas como uma emoção, mas como uma escolha e uma ação que visa o bem do outro.

In the context of EMRC, the theme of affections is approached from an educational perspective, allowing students to reflect on the affective and sexual dimension of the human being. This reflection helps young people to develop the ability to live their affections in a balanced and constructive way, valuing relationships and human dignity. The aim is to lead students to recognise that affections are part of life and that they need to be guided ethically. The EMRC programme, in dealing with this topic, also presents a Christian perspective on the value of affections, relating them to the concept of "gift". Affectivity is seen as a gift, and love, in the Christian tradition, is the central value that guides all human relationships. From this point of view, students are encouraged to see love not just as an emotion, but as a choice and an action aimed at the good of the other.
