Abstract(s)
This dissertation aims to make an exegetical-christological study of Heb 4, 14 – 5, 1-10, where it is affirmed that Jesus is a Priest forever. To understand this statement, it is necessary to know the Theology of the temple to clarify Jesus’ priesthood. This study used diachronic and synchronic methods that helped us answer the following questions: who is the priest, why is Jesus a priest, and where did he exercise his priesthood? The answers given in the paper lead us to consider that the claim that Jesus is a priest is a novelty in the NT and that his priesthood is understood in the context of Yom Kippur because he is a priest, victim, altar, sacrifice and offering.
