Abstract(s)
With the main goal of studying the impact of Covid-19 on self-esteem and satisfaction with body image in Portuguese adolescents, as well as characterizing the sample considering the main variables and their sociodemographic characteristics, was used a sample of 311 teenagers, 202 female and 109 male, aged between 12 and 18. The instruments used to analyze the main variables were the Rosenberg SelfEsteem Scale and the Body Image Satisfaction Questionnaire. The obtained results demonstrate that the higher the self-esteem, the higher the satisfaction with the adolescents' body image. In addition to that, it stands out the fact that young people perceived higher levels of self-esteem before Covid-19 compared to the post-Covid-19 period, which means that Covid-19 had a negative impact on selfesteem. The fact that this study assesses adolescents' self-esteem and satisfaction with the body image, considering their perceptions before Covid-19 and what they feel after Covid-19, is assumed to be a huge contribution to the literature, given the importance of the mentioned constructs and the relevance of studying the impact of Covid-19 on them.
