Abstract(s)
Magistério, nomeadamente a Carta Encíclica Dives in Misericordia de João Paulo II e a Bula
The purpose of this work is to approach and defend the subject of human dignity as an expression of Mercy, specifically of Mercy as it is developed in the present curricular program of the Catholic Religious and Moral Education. It arises from the realization of an insufficient approach of such a relevant and important topic in this programme of studies. The goals of this work are to understand that Mercy is God’s main attribute and that Jesus is the face of the Father’s Mercy. Consequentially, the notion of Mercy is presented key word in order to gauge who are those who adopt a Christian lifestyle. This work addresses nuclear topic of Mercy in its’ fundamental aspects, starting from the biblical foundations of Old and New Testaments as well as the Teaching Authority documents, namely John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Dives in Misericordia and the Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Misericordiae vultus of Francis. Finally, we analise the current curricula Catholic Religious and Moral Education program with the purpose of ascertaining the extent to which this theme is herein present and we finish presenting a pedagogical proposal that is the creation of a new learning unit entitled: Mercy.
