Abstract(s)
The present study has as general objective to understand the impact of Centrality of Work and sociodemographic variables in the Organizational Climate. For this purpose, the data were collected through an online platform, between October 2016 and March 2017, the sample is 143 subjects, mostly Portuguese. Two scales were applied: social work climate scale (Moos & Insel, 1974) translated and adapted for the Portuguese population (Lobo, Fernandez, 2001), only the items corresponding to the subscales were applied, cohesion, clarity and convenience and the centrality scale of work (Lobo, Gonçalves, Tavares, 2016), composed of two dimensions (functional and affective). The results show that the centrality is higher in men, were found marginally significant differences between groups with regard to centrality (F (3) = 2 2.269, p = .053), with individuals over 46 years of age registering a higher value in relation to functional centrality (M = 9, SD = 3,307) and subjects up to 25 years had lower values (M = 7,171, SD = 2,985). Regarding affective centrality, no significant correlation was found (p> .05). This research allows us to rethink intervention strategies in organizations with older professional groups and to identify the reasons for gender differences.
