Abstract(s)
Paul VI held the papacy for 15 years, making him one of the 219 popes with one year or more tenure. One of the central ideas of the Second Vatican Council was communion, and communication is one of the eloquent pathways to achieving this desired communion. As envisioned by Pope Paul VI, social communication means are not merely vehicles for disseminating ideas. However, they are also favourable instruments for promoting communion among the faithful and society by fostering a network of mutual understanding, solidarity, and ecclesial co-responsibility. This study aims to analyse the media-related nature of Paul VI’s messages for World Communications Day. In doing so, it may serve as a valuable opportunity for a rereading that could inspire the Church’s relationship with the significant transformations of the world, particularly the advancements in media.
