Abstract(s)
The research The utopian ethics: From homo sacer to homo utopicus. Studies in Giorgio Agamben and Albert Camus proposes to investigate the meaning of utopia as a philosophical paradigm needed to understand the human being in its complexity and contextuality in Western contemporary societies. The study makes an interpretative analysis of Homo sacer – as people excluded from their rights and dignity within the limits of legality and bio-political context – through the study of Giorgio Agamben’s Homo Sacer: the sovereign power and bare life – I; State of Exception – II, 1; What remains of Auschwitz – III) and The Myth of Sisyphus from Albert Camus. The research shows that the symbolic and metaphorical importance of relations between homo sacer and Sisyphus announces the understanding and the emergence of homo utopicus and the utopian ethics. The methodology consists on bibliographic research with literature review on philosophical, literary, legal and human rights works, and the development of a theoretical basis to give critical, argumentative and interpretative support to the issues investigated and to achieve the proposed objectives. The relevance of this investigation is due to the necessity of a deep epistemological immersion in paradigms that delay the beautiful day intended since especially the Aristotelian political theory but do not prevent contemporary democratic societies to be (or almost be) in a state of exception as paradigm of contemporary politics.
