- 0+1=SOM: bringing computing closer to children through musicPublication . Hespanhol, Nuno; Rodrigues, Óscar; Gomes, José Alberto0 + 1 = SOM is a project developed by Digitópia Casa da Música in cooperation with Braga Media Arts. In this project we developed a series of online tools that use technology and basic mathematical and logical concepts, such as counting and understanding a loop or an if condition, to create music. These tools were later used in a series of four workshops with elementary school children as a creative activity that complements the classroom. This paper describes the process and reasoning behind the creation of the tools (explaining our choices when creating the contents), the role Web Audio played in it (particularly in the ability to schedule precise audio events), the results we have achieved so far, and the feedback we have had from students and teachers. We also discuss further applications and plans for the future.
- 3D printing objects as installation art: standing humanity: 3D yan characterPublication . Estadieu, Gérald; Abreu, Filipa Martins de; Barbosa, Alvaro3D printing technologies have been known for several decades and have been already used in arts, most often as accessories rather than as core material of a tangible installation art. We describe "Standing Humanity: 3D Yan Character" a collaborative and participative installation art based on 3D printing objects and we are analyzing participants' engagement and the playability of the installation. We analyze different types of interaction and conclude that 3D printing objects have a high potential to engage curiosity and open to interactions between visitors and the objects themselves. We finally suggest further investigations to explore 3D printing within the context of collaborative and interactive installation.

Aguiar, Maria; Sousa, Gonçalo Vasconcelos e; Teixeira, Joana; Soares, Maria LuísaAt the end of 2019, the 5th edition of the Portuguese-Brazilian Conference on Conservation and Restoration took place, and was organized by CITAR (Catholic University of Portugal) in collaboration with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. During the 9th and 10th of December topics were discussed related to recent events, such as the tragic fire in the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro, which occurred just over a year earlier; to the challenges posed by the conservation of new media art, contemporary art and scientific collections, as well as to the preservation of so-called more "traditional" cultural assets; without neglecting the necessary joint reflections about training on conservation and restoration on both sides of the Atlantic.
