- Career services at HEI’s: what are they offering?Publication . Khurumova, Veronika; Pinto, Joana CarneiroHigher education career centers should tailor their services toward empowering students to make them employable after graduation to meet the demands of the 21st century world of work. This paper aims to reflect on career counseling services provided by Higher Education Institutions. We start by presenting a brief history of their development around the world, with particular emphasis on Portugal. Next, a study about the current situation of these services in the country is presented, starting with an analysis of their organization, the type of actions/activities/services provided, as well as their accessibility. Results indicate that the Career Services in some Portuguese Higher Education Institutions appear not to be fully developed, and where they exist, they often focus mostly (and sometimes solely) upon job placement or internship provision. More investment is needed to meet the new employability needs and demands of both students (and their families) and the labor market.
- Optimized flow-based protein content monitoring in by-products hydrolysates with two merge zones integrationPublication . Teixeira, Raquel; Ribas, Tânia C. S.In the past few years, the interest in protein hydrolysates has been growing exponentially due to their nutritional and functional benefits for both human food and animal feed. In this context, total protein content is a key parameter for characterizing by-products, monitoring the hydrolysis processes, and the hydrolysates. This study aims to develop an accurate and expeditious, revisiting a merging zones flow-based spectrophotometric method for total protein quantification in food samples and hydrolysates. For this purpose, the conventional and reliable Biuret method was used. This method was chosen for its ease of preparation and the use of reagents with associated low toxicity. The flow-based approach consisted of a double injection of the sample and reagent, using a commutator, in a continuous stream, resulting in the reduction of the reagent consumption. For the development of the flow injection analysis (FIA) system, essential parameters, including reagent concentration, flow rate and reactor length, were optimized. The method was validated across various matrices, addressing potential interferences, and demonstrated repeatability and reproducibility. This optimized protocol offers a robust, efficient tool for the food industry, enhancing quality control and nutritional assessments.
- A comunicação não verbal dos pivôs de noticiários televisivos : o caso da RTPPublication . Costa, Carolina Mendes; Brandão, Nuno Manuel Coelho de GoulartNa apresentação dos noticiários televisivos, a comunicação verbal e não verbal do pivô assume grande destaque, sendo fundamental que a mensagem passe de forma neutra ao telespectador, para que este possa realizar a sua opinião sobre o assunto noticiado. A presente investigação tem como foco analisar os pivôs do serviço público de televisão, mais concretamente aqueles que apresentam no horário nobre da RTP 1, o Telejornal – José Rodrigues dos Santos, João Adelino Faria e Ana Lourenço. Tem, assim, como objetivo nuclear analisar como a comunicação não verbal é explorada pelos pivôs do Telejornal da RTP 1. Para tal, foram realizadas entrevistas exploratórias aos pivôs e, posteriormente, foi feita a observação de 110 notícias alusivas a cinco Telejornais de prime-time apresentados pelos referidos pivôs. Os principais resultados obtidos revelam que, na generalidade, a comunicação não verbal dos pivôs do Telejornal da RTP1 é tendencionalmente neutra, ainda que existam diferenças entre os pivôs, bem como entre as diferentes dimensões da comunicação não verbal estudadas. As dimensões que apresentaram uma conotação, maioritariamente ou totalmente, neutra, para todos os pivôs, foram a boca e lábios, a cabeça e o rosto em geral, ao passo que as sobrancelhas e os gestos em geral, na globalidade, foram as únicas que tiveram um peso significativo de conotação não neutra (em especial, positiva). A comunicação não verbal de conotação não neutra de cariz negativo foi bastante reduzida, estando mais associada a momentos específicos de situações imprevistas.

This film depicts the author’s subjective point of view on the contemporary situation in Ukraine, serving as a means of communication with the world. The report is divided into two parts, those being theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explains the objective, motivation, methodology used, and bibliographical and filmographic research. The practical part provides a detailed explanation of the film production, from the formation of the idea to the final touches on the project.

- The role of jesuit universities in cultivating leaders for peace-building humanismPublication . Without peace, the world becomes inhuman. The path to peace is a dialog that makes a friend of the stranger a different one. The world is currently going through challenging times caused by nationalist, ethnic, and sometimes religious identity conflicts. Identity should be an opportunity for encounter and inclusion despite differences and not for violence. Recognizing the differences of others means recognizing the dignity of all human beings, which leads to the construction of a universal ethic based on human rights, which leads to solidarity and an idea of justice that is due to everyone. On the other hand, we have problems at the root of many wars, which has to do with the aggressive way globalization is imposed. The issues of refugees, migration, and the environment (control of natural resources) are other significant problems today. There is an inextricable link between environmental degradation, poverty, and injustice. The big problem facing many academic circles today is the issue of nonviolence as a response and path to the conflict that accompanies our world. Understanding and studying how nonviolence as a path to peace can be researched, taught, and made a reality is one of the most critical challenges for the academic world. Both the Church's Social Doctrine and the UN state that the international response to oppression and human rights violations should be multilateral since it is based on the conviction that we are all children of the same human family and that there are no territorial borders that limit our moral responsibility. The 36th General Congregation of the Society of Jesus invites Jesuit universities to focus their mission on reconciliation and justice as a necessary path to peace (D. 1, no. 34). For the Society of Jesus, the university must educate its students for leadership that creates the conditions for their action to be a path to the common good that leads to a just peace. In our work, we set out to identify the characteristics proposed by the Society of Jesus, which should accompany a leader at the end of their university career and make the education of Jesus live up to its educational motto: virtus et litterae.
- Do fascínio do “pátio” digital ao “pátio” do encontro e da proximidadePublication . Garcia, Maria João de Lima Ramos Fernandes; Oliveira, António Manuel BrancoO presente trabalho decorre da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada na disciplina de Educação Moral e Religiosa Católica, do Agrupamento de Escolas Castêlo da Maia, a partir da reflexão realizada sobre primeira unidade letiva do 9.º ano: «Dignidade da vida humana». O aprofundamento teológico e pedagógico do tema “Do fascínio do “pátio” digital ao Pátio do encontro e da proximidade”, partiu da constatação de que o desenvolvimento tecnológico e a ampliação da influência das redes sociais, estabeleceu maiores oportunidades de relação e conhecimento entre os jovens. A internet é uma ferramenta muito utilizada nas redes sociais, conduzem a uma grande socialização e a construção de relações virtuais que interferem no comportamento humano, desta forma, é imprescindível compreender a relação dos adolescentes com as redes sociais e orientá-los na compreensão das potencialidades e riscos que o fascínio da utilização destas poderão influenciar a vida pessoal e social dos alunos. A interpelação apresentada surgiu na observação das relações interpessoais dos alunos do AECM, cuja comunicação entre eles tinha pelo meio um dispositivo tecnológico, a relação comunicativa entre eles tinha apenas respostas com monossílabos, “sim” e “não”. Posto isto, é necessário compreender a relação humana “eu” e “tu”, “quem é o meu próximo?”. 1 O estudo em questão, poder-se-á dizer, que é de natureza mista, quantitativa e qualitativa, foi utilizado para a recolha de dados o inquérito por questionário com o auxílio da plataforma google forms. Foram inquiridos quarenta alunos das duas turmas do 9.º ano A e G com a permissão e conhecimento das diretoras de turma. Os resultados obtidos verificaram-se que as turmas do A e G utilizam as redes sociais com equilíbrio saudável. Estes alunos utilizam as redes sociais com frequência e que fazem parte de uma ou mais redes sociais, para pesquisa, ouvir música, ver séries, jogar, comunicar e troca de informação, no diálogo em sala de aula notou-se que têm conhecimento da influência que a s redes sociais podem ter nas suas vidas. Assim, com base nos resultados obtidos, pretende-se propor a experiência do pátio do encontro e da proximidade com diversos jogos com a intensão de recuperar a relação interpessoal e a alegria que os leve a valorizar o gosto de estarem juntos sem o condicionamento de dispositivos tecnológicos.
- Português no Índico: evidências de nativização do português moçambicanoPublication . Silva, Augusto Soares da; Mevis, AliceNo contexto do crescente pluricentrismo do português, analisamos a nativização das variedades africanas, no enquadramento do “modelo dinâmico” elaborado por Schneider (2007) para as variedades nacionais do inglês, com incidência no português moçambicano (PM). São descritos os principais dados sociolinguísticos do PM, como a percentagem de falantes do português como L1/L2 e das línguas bantu locais, a projeção social do português em Moçambique e os fenómenos de diglossia e de “language shift” das línguas bantu para o português. Analisamos, em seguida, alguns dos principais indicadores linguísticos de nativização do PM: fonológicos, como a reestruturação silábica; sintáticos, como clíticos, marcação diferencial do objeto, transitivação, duplos objetos, emergência de novas construções, como a passiva dativa; e lexicais, como empréstimos e neologismos. Finalmente, discutimos as questões de contacto e graus de influência das línguas bantu, estádios de estabilização do PM, reestruturações da gramática do português europeu e (re)interpretação dinâmica e sociocognitiva da nativização do PM.
