Abstract(s)
The present internship Report analyze how the generations of television journalists are adapting to the digital age, taking as a case study the Radio and Television of Portugal (RTP). The digital ecosystem has brought a diversity of tools that have an impact on the newsrooms and journalistic routines, and also changed the formats of reception of contents through television. The purpose of this report is to analyze the vision of the different generations of television journalists and the way they are adapting to digital ecosystem in terms of routines and skills. To answer this objective, we use a mixed methodology, which includes an exploratory interview, a questionnaire to 87 journalists from the RTP newsroom and six semi-structured interviews with journalists with a few years of careers and veterans in the profession. Journalists believe that career time and age are not related to digital difficulties and the obstacles to incorporating new routines are related to emotional and cultural factors, such as inertia and resistance to wanting to learn, and to the fact that they not wanting to add more tasks to their daily responsibilities for the same remuneration.
