Abstract(s)
As
Quais as
A investigação
apresentada procura captar parte desse contexto, analisando o turismo e a reabilitação
The work focuses on the tourism as a process of urban regeneration of historic centers, in this case the city of Viseu. More broadly, the theme refers therefore, to develop the historic center through tourism, in other way, the city has a variety of offerings to cultural, heritage and contemporary, which tend to increase the flow of the city. The tourism phenomenon appears linked to economic development that the historical centers and urban areas are experiencing at this time of change. This could be a key role in transforming physical, economic, social and symbolic, historic areas. This phenomenon of tourism, which promotes urban space, is not recent, cities have always been an attraction for visitors and tourists (Batista, 2008, p.60). Tourism can be an enhancer of regeneration and rehabilitation centers. The regeneration process appears to improve not only the use and morphological characteristics of the building, but also to encompass other dimensions. Wishing to understand how tourism can provide the urban regeneration of the historic center of Viseu, research and proposal focuses on the tourist offer of the town, the urban regeneration processes that tourism provides, the initiative of low-cost lodging as way to rehabilitate vacant buildings; identity as a way to provide the tourist attractiveness, and physical dimension and symbolic activity that provides the city. What advantages do the rehabilitation and regeneration can provide to the city through tourism? How can tourism assist in urban regeneration? What are the strategies of action that allows this regeneration? How does the proposal of a low-cost lodging can help urban regeneration through tourism? These are some of the questions that organize and guide the whole research and proposal on tourism and urban regeneration. The context of tourism and urban regeneration is complex and heterogeneous. The research presented aims to capture part of that context, analysing tourism and rehabilitation separately and realizing how it can connect to the regeneration of urban space. In this sense tourism can be proportioner flow, allowing the drives physical regeneration, symbolic, economic and social decay in historic areas.
