Abstract(s)
The host institutions for children are a social answer when all the probabilities to solve the risk situation are sold out. The host institution role is fundamental in the children development and in the continuous preparation for their society reintegration. The present study, explores the psychologists perception about their professional practice in the institutional context. The literature reveals a few studies yet, that reflects about the professional perspective about their functions and roles. We applied semi structured interviews to seven psychologists with the purpose of knowing their perception about their functions, contribute to the institution, multidisciplinary team work, a reflection about their difficulties and satisfaction level. The results allow us to perceive that the institutional psychologists posture is different from the classic psychology point of view, that is role is different according to the institutional policies and that the perceived difficulties have implications on the professional practices.
