Abstract(s)
O presente relatório consiste num estudo crítico das traduções efetuadas ao longo do estágio profissional realizado no âmbito do Mestrado de Tradução. O estágio, com duração de quatro meses, teve lugar na empresa de tradução internacional Eurologos, com escritórios em Lisboa e no Porto, em Portugal.
O primeiro capítulo apresenta uma introdução à Tradução Técnica enquanto área fundamental, de forma a melhor compreender a sua relevância, quer no mercado de trabalho, quer no âmbito dos estudos de Tradução, visto que a tipologia de textos mais utilizada no estágio incidiu, sobretudo, sobre esta área da tradução. A partir da descrição do exercício de tradução de textos técnicos e da análise, quer do processo, quer do produto da tradução, procurar-se-á extrair uma tipologia de dificuldades e de estratégias com vista à sua solução no contexto específico da tradução técnica. É também analisada a presença da tradução técnica no mercado de trabalho e a sua presença e problematização nos Estudos de Tradução. O mesmo será realizado através do auxílio de bibliografia relevante sobre a disciplina.
O segundo capítulo incide mais especificamente sobre o estágio. Após a contextualização desta prática e a análise de uma seleção de textos traduzidos, maioritariamente da área técnica, mas incluindo outros de tipologias distintas, esta parte do relatório dá principal destaque aos problemas e desafios detetados e às soluções encontradas para os resolver.
The present report aims to carry out a critical study of the work done throughout the professional internship performed in order to obtain a Master’s degree in Translation. The internship lasted for a period of four months starting at the end of January and ending in June, and took place at Eurologos, an international translation company with two offices in Portugal situated in Lisbon, where it took place, and Porto. Starting with the first chapter a brief introduction to Technical Translation and its current placement in today’s world will be made as a way to better grasp its importance and relevancy since the most used typology during the internship was focused on this area of translation. While describing the practice of translating technical texts and exploring its process a typology of difficulties and strategies will be described to solve them in the specific context of technical translation. The place technical translation occupies in the work place will also be analysed as will its role in Translation Studies. The same will also be done with the aid of relevant bibliography on the matter. The second chapter will describe the internship, where an analysis of the carried out texts in the different areas of technical translation, such as legal, medical and financial and literary translation done from the English and Spanish languages, will shed some light on the main encountered problems and also the best solutions to solve those same problems.
