| dc.description.abstract | This project consists in the creation of WomanBeing – Women Artists, a non-profit cultural association that fights for gender equality within the visual arts in Portugal through an online platform that will support, empower and promote emerging women artists. WomanBeing – Women Artists is created as a result of this project‟s research question, which is also its case for action: “After identifying the present lack of gender equality within the visual arts in Portugal, how can the representation and visibility - much needed for these women artists – be promoted?” Following the case for action of this research, it will be carried out a social and cultural analysis of the feminist critical approach, in depth on the Portuguese scene and briefly on the international in order to understand the past and present situation of gender inequality within the arts‟ system. After addressing the present scenario of gender inequality and the mechanisms for its systemic existence, this research will fight these through the creation of an alternative to the existing gap regarding the theme within the visual arts. In this sense, WomanBeing – Women Artists arises as a project with a cohesive line of action through its mission, goals, selected audiences and activities. Focused on emerging women artists, the association embraces the feminist cause and is guided by the principles of equality, empowerment, diversity and sisterhood promoted among the artists while articulating concepts such as artistic citizenship, representation and agency between the artists and the cultural environment. WomanBeing – Women Artists thus intersects gender equality and creative industries aiming at the creation of a space of representativeness and visibility for emerging women artists. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Este projecto consiste na criação de WomanBeing – Women Artists, uma associação cultural sem fins lucrativos para a Igualdade de Género nas artes visuais em Portugal através de uma plataforma online que irá apoiar, empoderar e promover mulheres artistas emergentes. WomanBeing – Women Artists é criada como resultado da pergunta de investigação deste projecto, que é também o seu caso de acção: “Depois de identificar a presente falta de igualdade de género nas artes visuais em Portugal, como poderá a representação e a visibilidade - tão necessária para estas mulheres artistas – ser promovida?” Seguindo o caso para a acção desta investigação, será conduzida uma apreciação socio-cultural acerca da emergência da crítica feminista no cenário internacional e com mais profundidade do cenário português de forma a entender a situação de desigualdade de género no sistema da arte. Depois de compreender o presente cenário de desigualdade de género e os seus mecanismos para a sua existência sistêmica, a investigação propõe a criação de uma alternativa para a lacuna existente relativamente à temática nas artes visuais. Neste sentido, WomanBeing – Women Artists surge como um projecto dotado de uma linha de acção coesa através da sua missão, objectivos, audiências seleccionadas e actividades. Focada em mulheres artistas emergentes, a associação abraça a causa feminista e é guiada pelos princípios de igualdade, empoderamento, diversidade e sororidade promovidos junto das artistas enquanto articula conceitos como cidadania artística, representação e empoderamento entre as artistas e o ambiente cultural. WomanBeing – Women Artists faz, assim, a intersecção entre igualdade de género e indústrias criativas criando um espaço de representatividade e visibilidade para mulheres artistas emergentes. | pt_PT |
