Abstract(s)
«Today, in particular, the pressing pastoral task of the new evangelization calls for the involvement of the entire People of God, and requires a new fervor, new methods and a new expression for the announcing and witnessing of the Gospel. This task demands priests [and lay faithful]2 who are deeply and fully immersed in the mystery of Christ and capable of embodying a new style of pastoral life» (PDV 18). Starting with the Holy Scripture and the Magisterium of the Second Vatican Council and the following, this dissertation pretends to remember and present the fundamental doctrinal elements at the centre of the identity and mission of the lay ministries. In the current cultural and ecclesiastical climate, it is important to remember the identity and mission of the lay ministries because this helps to deepen the meaning of these ministries as well as the intimate union between the baptismal priesthood and Christ.
