Este estudo procura efetuar uma análise detalhada à cobertura mediática que é feita por parte dos media portugueses ao partido Chega (Ch). Como forma de obter resultados nesta investigação, optei por utilizar um método qualitativo com vários grupos de entrevistados: os media (editores de política e representantes dos diversos órgãos de comunicação), especialistas (professores e investigadores com artigos e livros publicados sobre a área de investigação) e, por fim, atores políticos (nomeadamente, membros ligados ao partido Chega, incluindo o seu líder, André Ventura, e membros ligados a um partido de um espectro político totalmente distinto ao do partido analisado – o Bloco de Esquerda). Antes da análise dos conteúdos provenientes destas entrevistas, será abordado em detalhe o conceito de Populismo e a relação entre as várias personalidades associadas ao populismo e aos media.
This study seeks to conduct a detailed analysis of the media coverage given by the Portuguese media to the Chega (Ch) party. As a way of obtaining results in this investigation, I chose to use a qualitative method with several groups of interviewees: the media (political editors and representatives of various media bodies), experts (teachers and researchers with articles and books published on the area of investigation) and, finally, political actors (namely, members linked to the Chega party, including its leader, André Ventura, and members linked to a party from a political spectrum completely different to that of the party analysed – Bloco de Esquerda). Prior to analysing the content obtained from these interviews, a detailed analysis will be conducted of the concept of Populism and the relationship between the various personalities associated with populism and the media.
