percurso permitiu-me adquirir competências de destreza, planificação e tomada
de decisão, perante situações complexas e imprevistas; possibilitou-me
desempenho
This report reflects the activities of my component practice inserted in the Course of Specialization in Nursing Sciences of Health administered by the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Centro Regional das Beiras. My traineeship was divided in three modules with a workload of 180 hours each one. Module I was developed between the 19th of May of 2008 and the 31st of July of 2008, in the General Emergency Service of S. Teotónio’s Hospital of Viseu, E.P.E.; Module II was developed during the period of the 6th of October to the 19th of November of 2008, in the Intensive Care medical area, at Pedro Hispano’s Hospital in Matosinhos. Module III, traineeship of option, was carried out in the VMER, Intensive Coronary Cares and Service of Cardiology of S. Teotónio’s Hospital of Viseu, EPE, from the 24thof November of 2008 to the 31st of January of 2009. The great general objective defined for this traineeship was the development of scientific, technical and relational competences on how to approach a critical patient in the prehospital and in-hospital care service, giving emphasis to a patient with cardiac problems. The experiences provided by this traineeship allowed me to improve my performance in a technical, scientific and relational view, according to the different phases of the process that constitutes the way the critical patient can be handled, respectively in his stabilization and transport in surrounding pre hospital care service, in his approach in the context of Emergency Service and in the maintenance of his balance when admitted in a Unity of Intensive Care. This path allowed me to acquire skill competences, planning and making decisions, prior to complex and unforeseen situations; it enriched me significantly making it possible for me to develop on to another level of knowhow and definition of priorities in the approach of a critical patient, as well as in terms of involvement and sensitization of teams for the optimization of their performance
