As práticas de comunicação interna têm um papel fundamental para a integração dos novos membros nas organizações. O seu cariz formal ou informal acarreta uma intenção de criar um sentimento de pertença do indivíduo com os pares (integração inicial) e com a própria organização (integração total), tonando-o parte integrante do todo. Deste modo, as práticas de comunicação interna servem o processo de socialização organizacional (aculturação), que está presente ao longo da vida do indivíduo e na sua aprendizagem de normas e pressupostos básicos, que constituem a cultura organizacional.
Internal communication practices play an important role when integrating new members into organizations. These practices could be formal or informal and entail to create a sense of belonging (to be part of) with peers (initial integration) and with the organization itself (total integration), making it an integral part of the whole. Thus, internal communication practices assist the process of organizational socialization (acculturation) that are present throughout a person's life and during the process of learning the set of basic assumptions and norms which are reflected in the rules, behaviours and standards that constitute the organizational culture
