Abstract(s)
The main focus of this work, developed within the context of the doctorate in Sciences Education from
Portuguese Catholic University, is to characterize how the curricular differentiation practices are put into
action within the context of music education on high education institutes, more specifically on singing
lessons. This subject is of great interest to the researchers, since the music teaching seems to be intended only for the talents in opposition to the idea of being an inclusion tool in a global perspective.
The communication is based therefore on the review of the literature and empirical data already
analyzed in the PhD, developed in the light of reflections on the curriculum practices within the context
of classical singing lessons in Portugal. To understand the significance of curriculum differentiation in this context it is necessary to reflect
about how teachers and pupils act and interact in the classroom context; also recognizing the relevance
of different theoretical discourses about the issue.
It is hoped thus to contribute to new thinking and improvements in curriculum practices in the
sense of promote more meaningful learning experiences for all students and teachers; a process built in
cooperation and in an inclusive differentiating way.
