Abstract(s)
Participaram no estudo 300 adolescentes (45.3% do sexo masculino, 54.7% do sexo feminino, Midade = 17.52).
During adolescence, decision-making processes occur, along with uncertainties and changes that characterize this period of life. Based on previous experiences and interaction with contexts, adolescents develop decision-making profiles, with an impact on their levels of certainty and commitment to career options. Given the need to deepen knowledge about the decision-making profiles, a first contribution to investigate the psychometric properties of the Career Decision-Making Profile (CDMP) with a sample of 12th year students in Portugal is offered. Participants included 300 adolescents (45.3% male, 54.7% female, Mage = 17.52). After back-translation and think-aloud tryout procedures, the measure was answered by the participants, in-group, at the classroom context. The exploratory factor analysis results revealed 10 dimensions that explain 68.21% of the variance. Satisfactory internal consistency values, Cronbach's alpha, were found. The results also showed evidence of convergent validity, namely by demonstrating statistically significant relationships with self-efficacy for career decision-making and life satisfaction. The CDMP is, therefore, a useful self-report measure that can support psychological practices. However, future studies can continue to study the psychometric properties of the CDMP with Portuguese young people and adults, using confirmatory factor analysis and analyzing relationships with other variables.
