| dc.description.abstract | A evolução do conflito pela autodeterminação na Palestina teve como base e força propulsora o combate ideológico sobre a legitimidade do sionismo, fenómeno que não culminou com a independência de Israel em 1948 ou com o deflagrar e consequências da Guerra dos Seis Dias em 1967. A presente dissertação tem como janela temporal todo o século XX, procurando verificar a premência da questão da legitimidade e das dinâmicas por si criadas para o comportamento dos dois lados e para a impossibilidade de resolver a contenda, com foco especial na década de 90, quando o mútuo-reconhecimento entre Israel e a OLP parecia ter diminuído ou até apagado a relevância da problemática do direito de Israel a existir. Perante o levantamento histórico e bibliográfico efectuado, testamos a vitalidade e invariabilidade da matéria da justiça e da legitimidade, contrastando-a com outras hipóteses que poderiam, em distintos pontos da história, justificar a impossibilidade de um entendimento final que consagrasse a solução de dois Estados. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The evolution of the conflict for self-determination in Palestine had as a major force and as the main influence the ideological fight about the legitimacy of Zionism, circumstance that did not end with the independence of Israel in 1948 or the outcomes of the Six Day War in 1967. This thesis time frame is the entire XX century, during which we seek to determine and prove the centrality of the matter of legitimacy and the dynamics it creates for the behaviour of both sides and the intractability of the dispute, with a particular focus in the 1990s, when the mutual recognition between Israel and the PLO seemed to have diminished or even eliminated the relevance of studying and discussing the right of Israel to exist, since Yasser Arafat and many Palestinians were committed to the peace process and ready for a two-state solution. Throughout our study, we will test the vitality and unchangeability of the issue of justice and legitimacy of Zionism to Palestinians and Israelis, contrasting it with other hypotheses that could or were appointed, in different times and events, as justifications to why a final agreement according to a two-state solution was impossible and inconceivable. | pt_PT |
