Abstract(s)
Assim, a amostra
The following study uses a quantitative theoretical and methodological approach in order to explore the relationship between Work Strain and the need for Recovery Experiences, as well as the way it’s affected by other variables resulting of work in shopping centers, places known for their busy and demanding working environments, with schedules that may be an obstruction to the recovery of resources. Thus, this sample of 212 participants was collected in varied shopping centers in Portugal, who responded to the Employment Stress Questionnaire (Meliá, 1994) and the Recovery Experience Questionnaire (Sonnentag & Fritz, 2007, adapted by Lobo & Pinheiro, 2013). The results indicate that the Work Strain correlates with the Recovery Experiences, in particular with the Psychological Detachment dimension. It is also under the impact of the extra hours being worked and the alternating shifts, among other demographic variables. This research could help to draw some attention not only to the psychosocial risks and work-related stress, but also to the importance of promoting the right conditions for the workers to recover.
