Abstract(s)
comportamental e a sintomatologia depressiva.
This study aimed to evaluate the predictors of therapeutic adherence in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, the study analyzed the quality of life, self-efficacy, behavioral adherence and depressive symptoms as predictors. This is a quantitative study, correlational - predictive, cross between subjects. The nonprobability convenience sample was consisted of 26 subjects, children and adolescents with diabetes mellitus type 1, aged between 6 and 18 years and diagnosed for at least a year, members of the Minho Diabetic Association. The instruments that were used are: sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire, Behavioral Accession Questionnaire Treatment, Quality of Life Evaluation Questionnaire for Adolescents with Type 1 diabetes (DQOL), Self-Efficacy Scale for Diabetes (SEDS) and the Child Depression Inventory (CDI). The results of this study show that participants have a low adherence and quality of life. On the other hand, exhibit good level of self-efficacy, and no evidence of depression. With regard to the hypothesis under consideration, they weren’t proven entirely. It was found associations between the self-confidence to treatment and adherence to medical treatment (negative) between psychological morbidity and satisfaction with treatment and life (positive association) and between psychological morbidity and adherence to medical treatment (association negative). Despite all the limitations of this study, we believe that the aims of the present study were fulfilled. It is important that future studies continue to focus on the analysis of adherence and quality of life predictors in these patients in order to develop intervention programs increasingly targeted and effective.
