Abstract(s)
The following report is the result of an investigation carried out in the organizational context and addresses the theme “Implementation of Continuous Improvement methodologies in the Retail context – The Auchan Retail Portugal Case”. The work developed was motivated by the elaboration of a case study related to Auchan Retail Portugal, the company where the author carried out a curricular internship and where it was possible to obtain all the necessary information, and intends to answer the following research question: “How Can Continuous Improvement methodologies be implemented in the Retail sector?”. The realization of this investigation was based on the previously published literature on the topics Supply Chain, Retail and Continuous Improvement. The main goal of Auchan Project, developed by the author at the company, is to analyse the processes developed in the store, in order to be able to identify opportunities for improvement and subsequently implement continuous improvement methodologies to solve the problems encountered. The project started with an analysis of the processes carried out by the toys market from the moment the Product Manager, from the headquarters, orders the goods from suppliers until the moment, after the sale of an product, the item is out of stock and the information is recorded in the system and sent to the Product Manager. For this analysis to be carried out more clearly and efficiently, a flowchart representative of the indicated processes was developed. From this analysis it was possible to identify five points of failure, which correspond to five opportunities for improvement for the company. To carry out a structured analysis of the problems encountered and a proposal for solutions for improvement, an A3 Report was developed for each of the identified problems.
