Abstract(s)
Os Vitrais de Júlio Resende, na Paróquia Nossa Senhora da Boavista – Porto, são uma obra de arte sacra contemporânea, de grande inspiração bíblica, onde se procura veicular, através do trabalho artístico, uma mensagem. Esta mensagem, segundo o nosso modo de ver, segue algumas intuições de carácter teológico, espiritual e catequético, obedecendo, assim, a um percurso de reflexão e de anúncio, proposto implicitamente pelo autor, como trajeto livre a seguir por quem quer que entre e visite este espaço de celebração. Trata-se, em certa medida, de um itinerário de evangelização, através do vitral, tal como acontecia com os vitrais na Idade Média e até dos nossos dias.
O autor em causa, o Mestre Júlio Resende, entre as muitas obras que fez, tem também no seu currículo obras de arte sacra, cuja mensagem teológica e espiritual nunca foi explorada ou apresentada. O projeto da igreja da Paróquia Nossa Senhora da Boavista – Porto é da autoria do arquiteto Agostinho Ricca e os vitrais são da autoria do pintor Júlio Resende. Na criação dos vitrais, que teve lugar no período de 1979 a 1981, o autor inspira-se sobretudo em textos bíblicos, com os quais se identifica e que fundamentam o seu modo de ver o mundo, a Igreja, a fé e o homem contemporâneo. A par desta grande e determinante inspiração bíblica, parece-nos que o autor serve-se de outras referências que lhe servem de complemento inspirador.
Neste nosso trabalho, propomos, como chave de leitura teológica, espiritual, catequética e artística, o seguinte esquema, que é um trajeto linear, peregrinal: a centralidade de Cristo e o centro da fé cristã (o mistério da encarnação); a proclamação do Evangelho de Cristo, Boa-Nova de Deus para o homem contemporâneo; o homem peregrinante, que olha para Deus, digno de louvor, e sua Providência; o homem peregrino, que precisa dos sinais da magnanimidade de Deus como condições e meios necessários para alcançar a meta; o homem que vive na esperança, aberto à vida, chamado à Vida Eterna.
Os vitrais, são, portanto, e de verdade, uma Bíblia aberta, um precioso veículo de evangelização, que não deixa ninguém indiferente. São um itinerário luminoso, onde também a luz se torna comunicadora e colaboradora de Deus, pois ela é vida, é a natureza a entrar na Casa do Senhor. Os vitrais são janelas abertas para o interior e para o exterior, como que a querer tornar a Igreja espaço sempre aberto ao mundo, em diálogo com ele. Por fim, a temática da criação, afirmada e representada nos elementos cromáticos e figurativos, é um convite ao cuidado da criação, da nossa casa comum. Também aqui, é dito que somos herdeiros e cuidadores da obra das suas mãos.
The Stained Glasses of Júlio Resende, in the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Boavista - Porto, are a contemporary masterpiece of sacred art, of great biblical inspiration, in which a message is sought through artistic work. This message, as we see it, follows some intuitions of a theological, spiritual and catechetical nature, thus obeying a course of reflection and advertisement, implicitly proposed by the author, as a free path to follow by whoever enters and visit this celebration space. To a certain extent, this is an itinerary of evangelization through stained-glass, as was the case with stained-glass windows in the Middle Ages and even today. The author in question, Master Júlio Resende, among the many works he did, also has in his curriculum works of sacred art, whose theological and spiritual message was never explored or presented. The design of the church of the Parish of Our Lady of Boavista – Porto is by the architect Agostinho Ricca and the stained glasses by the painter Júlio Resende. In the creation of stained glasses, which took place during the period from 1979 to 1981, the author is inspired, above all, by biblical texts, with which he identifies himself and which substantiates his way of seeing the world, the Church, the faith and the contemporary man. Alongside this great and decisive biblical inspiration, it seems to us that the author uses other references that serve as an inspiring complement. In this work, we propose as a key of theological, spiritual, catechetical and artistic reading the following structure, which is a linear, peregrinal path: The centrality of Christ and the center of the Christian faith (the incarnation myster); The proclamation of the gospel of Christ, Good News of God for contemporary man; The pilgrim man, who looks to God, worthy of praise and his Providence; the pilgrim man, who needs the signs of God's magnanimity, as conditions and means necessary to reach the goal; The man who lives in hope, open to life, called to Eternal Life. The stained glasses, therefore, are truly an open bible, a precious vehicle of evangelization, which leaves no one indifferent. They are a luminous itinerary, where light also becomes the communicator and collaborator of God, for it is life, it is nature entering the Lord’s House. The stained glasses are open Windows to the interior and to the exterior, as if a desire to make the Church always an open space to the world, in dialogue with it. Finally, the creation subject, affirmed and represented in the chromatic and figurative elements, is an invitation to the take care of creation, of our common home. Here too, it is said, we are heirs and caretakers of the work of His hands.
