The rapid change in the macro environment of companies today leads to an effort to adapt management practices and the way they can respond efficiently to market demands and emerging challenges. From this perspective, and in order to fill the gaps of traditional companies, self-management systems are emerging, characterized by a flat structure (unlike in a hierarchy), a decentralized decision making power and an equal distribution among all employees, giving them a high level of freedom. For a better understanding of these new organizational forms and comparison between conventional management practices and a self-managing company, the case study of Mindera, a company operating in the software engineering sector, was presented. This study was possible using a qualitative descriptive and exploratory method research, in the case study format, using primary sources, namely interviews with company employees and several secondary sources. This study enables a better understanding of the operation and practices adopted by a company with a self-management system, highlighting its main characteristics, benefits and challenges.
