| dc.description.abstract | A promoção e proteção dos Direitos das Vítimas de Crime funcionam como linhas orientadoras para uma boa experiência da vítima ao longo do Processo Judicial. Contudo, nem sempre os seus direitos são aplicados na prática, acabando por motivar o fenómeno de vitimação secundária. A investigação presente tem como objetivo caraterizar e compreender o impacto do fenómeno da vitimação secundária nas expectativas das vítimas ao longo do Processo Judicial. Sendo um estudo qualitativo, foram realizadas 12 entrevistas semiestruturadas a vítimas de crime. Com os resultados alcançados, verificámos que a experiência negativa com o Sistema Judicial esteve presente no discurso das participantes. Essa experiência negativa remete tanto para o Primeiro Contacto com os Serviços como para o desenvolvimento do Processo Judicial. A Vitimação Secundária foi marcada tanto pela falta de proteção e promoção dos Direitos das Vítimas de Crime, como também pela atuação inapropriada dos profissionais. Destacou-se também as expectativas das vítimas relativamente ao apoio no primeiro contacto e durante o processo judicial, e as perceções e sentimentos das vítimas associados à sua experiência. Através da experiência e perspetiva da vítima compreendemos o quão fulcral é a implementação de mudança no Sistema Judicial a favor dos Direitos das Vítimas de Crime. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The promotion and protection of the Rights of Victims of Crime act as guidelines for a better experience for the victim throughout the judicial process. However, their rights are not always applied, ultimately provoking the phenomenon of secondary victimization. The present investigation aims to characterize and understand the impact of the phenomenon of secondary victimization on the victims’ expectations throughout the Judicial Process. As a qualitative study, 12 semi-structured interviews were conducted with victims of crime. With the results achieved, we found that the negative experience with the Judicial System was present in the participants’ speech. This negative experience refers both to the First Contact with the Services as well to the development of the Judicial Process. Secondary victimization was marked not only by the lack of protection and promotion of the rights of victims of crime, but also by the inappropriate performance of professionals. It also highlighted the victims’ expectations regarding support in the first contact and during the judicial process, and the victims' perception and feelings associated with their experience. Through the victim's experience and perspective, we understand how crucial it is to implement change in the judicial system in favour of the rights of victims of crime. | pt_PT |
