Abstract(s)
INTRODUÇÃO: Um sorriso harmonioso, aliado a uma aparência física cuidada é
preponderante na melhoria da interacção psicossocial do indivíduo. O sucesso da
reabilitação oral não assenta apenas em conceitos rígidos e previamente estabelecidos,
mas sim numa relação harmoniosa entre os factores determinantes da aparência do
sorriso, como os dentes, a arquitectura gengival e a moldura labial, não descurando as
linhas que actuam na composição dento-facial e facial.
OBJECTIVO: Analisar parâmetros do sorriso e avaliar a sua prevalência na totalidade
da amostra e face ao género, numa população de alunos e pacientes da Clínica Dentária
Universitária de Viseu.
METODOLOGIA: Fotografias intra e extra-orais padronizadas de 62 indivíduos.
Avaliaram-se as seguintes variáveis: Desvio da linha média maxilar em relação à linha
média facial; Arco do sorriso; Curvatura do lábio superior; Linha do sorriso; Largura do
Sorriso; Forma dos incisivos centrais superiores. Posteriormente, realizou-se uma
análise estatística dos dados obtidos, utilizando o teste do qui-quadrado.
RESULTADOS: A distribuição de frequências simples revelou que a coincidência das
linhas médias maxilar e facial é mais prevalente na amostra total, assim como a curva
incisiva paralela ao lábio inferior e a curvatura do lábio superior voltada para cima. A
linha do sorriso média e a exposição de 10 dentes foram as mais prevalentes, assim
como a forma quadrada dos incisivos centrais. Quanto ao género obteve-se significância
estatística para a linha do sorriso, sendo o sorriso alto mais prevalente nas mulheres e o
sorriso baixo nos homens.
CONCLUSÃO: Constatamos que existem diferenças estatisticamente significativas
entre homens e mulheres quanto à linha de sorriso. Os resultados obtidos demonstram
quais os parâmetros estéticos mais prevalentes em sorrisos naturais, de forma a
estabelecer normas que auxiliem o clínico na análise da estética, no planeamento do
tratamento e na realização de restaurações dentárias o mais naturais e individualizadas
possível.
INTRODUCTION: A harmonious smile combined with a careful physical appearance is predominant in improving the psychosocial interaction of individuals. The success of oral rehabilitation is not based only on rigid concepts and previously established, but on harmonious relationship between the determinants of smile (teeth, gingival architecture and lip frame), don’t forgetting the lines operating in the composition dentofacial and facial. PURPOSE: The aim of this clinical study is to examine objective smile parameters during spontaneous smile, quantifying its prevalence in the total sample and by gender (female and male). The statistically significant differences were observed between men and women. METHODS: Standardized intraoral and extraoral photographs were taken in 62 adults. The following parameters were analyzed: correlation of dental and facial midline; upper lip curvature; relationship of the maxillary anterior incisal curve with the lower lip; smile line; width smile (number of teeth displayed in a smile) and shape of the upper incisors. Subsequently, a statistical analysis of the data was performed using the chisquare test. RESULTS: The simple frequency distribution of the variables revealed that a coincidence of the dental midline with facial midline, a anterior incisal curve paralell to the lower lip; an average smile line, a upward smile; smile width to the second premolar and square shape of the central incisors are most prevalent in the total sample. As to gender was obtained statistical significance for the smile line. High smile is more prevalent in women and low smile in men. CONCLUSION: There are statistically significant differences in the smile line between men and women. The outcomes of this study allow to identify the fundamental esthetic parameters in natural smiles to establish guidelines that helps the clinicians in esthetic analysis, individualized treatment planning and helps to perform dental restorations more naturals and individualized as possible.
