Abstract(s)
Nightlife recreational environments (NREs) are leisure spaces that make it possible to break the routine of daily life, promoting freedom and emancipation. However, they are also associated with excessive consumption of psychoactive substances (PAS) and beliefs about it, contributing to the reproduction of non-equal social norms based on gender, making women vulnerable to sexual violence (SV). Therefore, the general objective of this study was to identify and characterize the available evidence on the relationship between the problem of SV and the use of PAS in NREs. To this end, we conducted a Scoping Review that included a total of 18 articles. Data processing was conducted by means of qualitative data analysis software (NVivo). The analysis of the available evidence allowed us to identify and discuss different topics associated with SV and PAS consumption in NREs: (1) methodological characteristics of the studies; (2) definitions and terminologies used to define SV; (3) NREs to which research on SV is reported; (4) factors associated with VS in NREs; (5) PAS considered by research on NREs; (6) role of PAS consumption in SV in NREs; (7) gender differences in risk and protective behaviors associated with alcohol consumption in NREs; (8) limitations and recommendations for future studies.
