Abstract(s)
There are several cognitive domains (e.g. Attention, memory, executive functions) that are often compromised in patients with brain damage, having an impact on their daily tasks. In this way, neuropsychological rehabilitation at these levels becomes fundamental. This work discusses an exploratory retrospective study of the neuropsychological rehabilitation holistic program impact held at the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre of Gaia (CRPG), in the following areas: attention, verbal comprehension, executive functions, visual perception, working memory, depression and quality of life. The study covered a sample of individuals with acquired brain injury (n = 16) who attended this program during 6 months. To evaluate these different areas, we used an assessment protocol that allowed for comparison of the results obtained at two different times (before and after neuropsychological rehabilitation program), through statistical tests using SPSS Statitics software, version 20.0. Overall, the results revealed an increase in performance at attention functioning level, executive functions, verbal comprehension, speed of information processing, depression and perception of quality of life. However, at level of working memory and visual perception, there was a regression of results.
