diferentes, que recorreram ao “Temple of the Way of Light” (TOWL) para procurar
No desenvolvimento do
Dissociação, Autoconhecimento, Self-Compassion, Integração do Eu e Resiliência.
This study aims to characterize the psychological processes that emerge from the experience with ayahuasca and that have therapeutic potential for symptom relief in individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The present investigation was attended by four participants from different nationalities who used the “Temple of the Way of Light” (TOWL) that seek an alternative treatment for the relief of their symptoms. In the development of the study, we used a qualitative research methodology that seeks to describe observed phenomena and understand how the participants went through the experience and the meaning attributed to them. The data was collected through in-depth semistructured interviews and their analysis were carried out using Nvivo10® software. Consequently, the results obtained allowed to identify several psychological processes that emerged during the experience with Ayahuasca and in the integration phase (once the effects have been achieved) that have been shown to have an impact on the relief of PTSD symptoms. The following processes stand out: Exposure to Traumatic Memories, Emotional Release, Reencounter with the deceased, Dissociation, Self-Knowledge, Self-Compassion, Self-Integration and Resilience. However, this study is a first contribution to the exploration of the therapeutic potential of ayahuasca and therefore needs further development by the scientific research community.
