A presente investigação enquadra-se na análise da temática da motivação e conciliação entre trabalho e vida pessoal, abordada a partir da perspetiva dos trabalhadores de plataformas digitais de transporte de passageiros. O estudo, de caráter exploratório, teve como principal objetivo compreender a perceção destes trabalhadores relativamente à sua motivação para ingressar e permanecer neste modelo de trabalho e à sua conciliação entre trabalho e vida pessoal, atendendo à geração a que pertencem. A investigação de cariz qualitativo, foi realizada com base em entrevistas individuais semiestruturadas, sendo a análise temática a técnica utilizada no tratamento dos dados, com o auxílio do Nvivo 14. Por conseguinte, os dados foram recolhidos numa amostra constituída por dezessete participantes trabalhadores de plataformas digitais de transporte de passageiros há pelo menos seis meses, e pertencentes à Geração Y ou Z. Posto isto, os resultados sugerem que a motivação destes trabalhadores vai evoluindo positivamente no continuum da Teoria da Autodeterminação, desde o momento que entram, resultando numa motivação mais próxima de intrínseca. Apesar dos resultados evidenciarem diversos desafios à conciliação, a maioria perceciona um maior equilíbrio face a uma relação laboral tradicional. Contrariamente ao apresentado na literatura, o gap geracional não se revelou particularmente demonstrativo na amostra investigada.
This research is part of an analysis of the theme of motivation and work-life balance, approached from the perspective of workers on digital passenger transport platforms. The main aim of this exploratory study was to understand the perception of these workers regarding their motivation to join and remain in this work model and their work-life balance, taking into account the generation to which they belong. The qualitative research was based on individual semi-structured interviews, followed by thematic analysis as the technique used to process the data, with the help of Nvivo 14. The data was collected from a sample of seventeen participants who had been working on digital passenger transport platforms for at least six months and belonged to Generation Y or Z. Therefore, the results suggest that the motivation of these workers is evolving positively along the Self-Determination Theory continuum from the moment they join, resulting in more intrinsic motivation. Although the results show a number of challenges to balance work and personal life, the majority perceive a better balance than in a traditional working relationship. Contrary to what is presented in the literature, the generational gap was not particularly evident in the sample investigate.
