Abstract(s)
organizacionais. Mantendo a abordagem de sistemas de controlo e report, o
trabalho desenvolvido no referido estágio despoletou curiosidade acerca
trabalho desenvolvido.
Under the Master'ʹs Final Project (MFP), performed an internship in the Report and Control (R&C) Insurance company AXA-‐‑Port. Initially intended to be the theme "ʺCreating a System of Control and Report in the claims"ʺ, but over the stage was not realized by organizational difficulties. Keeping the systems approach to control and report the work in that stage sparked curiosity about management control system (MCS) in use in that area. Without the ability to pursue the MFP with the same theme, the new theme becomes "ʺ Management Control System in the Area of Report and Control"ʺ. The objective of this work is to understand the mechanisms of management and control of the area, so that in future we can develop the company MCS. To this end we intend to use the model of Merchant and Van der Stede (2003), and an approach that will enable clearer interpretation of the mechanisms of MCS existing in area. The paper starts with a review of literature that allows the reader to learn more about the various existing models, focusing on the model of Merchant and Van der Stede (2003) justifying the advantage of its use for the particular case. It follows the historical framing of AXA, and then identifies the MCS of R&C area, by analyzing and understanding the same. During the internship I had some meetings with the chief of the R&C area, although these have not been directed to the new theme, it served as a very straightforward and simple to collect and process information. Finally, I will discuss some conclusions arising from the particular character of the work.
