O presente estudo exploratório tem como principal objetivo compreender quais são as perspetivas, conhecimentos e experiências de profissionais de saúde que acompanham mulheres, nomeadamente grávidas, com consumos problemáticos, em relação ao álcool e a gravidez. Utilizando uma metodologia de cariz qualitativo, foram realizadas entrevistas através de um guião semiestruturado, procedendo-se a uma abordagem semi indutiva dos dados com recurso ao software NVivo. Além de explorar as consequências do consumo social de álcool durante a gravidez, que, devido às vulnerabilidades do feto, é considerado consumo problemático ou perigoso, este estudo explora também a vertente do consumo problemático de álcool feito de uma forma compulsiva por mulheres que sofrem de Perturbações do Uso de Álcool e explora as potenciais mudanças no consumo quando esta população engravida. Os resultados principais indicam que o consumo de álcool na gravidez é um fenómeno complexo com implicações culturais e sociais desafiantes, incongruências na informação providenciada pelos profissionais de saúde, vulnerabilidades genéticas e psicológicas individuais e, muitas vezes, contextos familiares desajustados.
The present exploratory study aims to understand the perspectives, knowledges and experiences of healthcare providers who work with women, mostly pregnant women, with problematic alcohol use, about alcohol and pregnancy. Following a qualitative methodology, the interviews were conducted through a semi-structured script, proceeding a semi inductive approach of data using the NVivo software. Besides exploring the consequences of social drinking during pregnancy, which is already considered a problematic alcohol use or dangerous use, due to the vulnerabilities of the fetus, this study also explores the phenomenom of problematic alcohol use, done in a compulsive way by women who suffer from addiction. This study also explores the potencial changes in alcohol use when this population gets pregnant. The main results indicate that alcohol use during pregnancy is a complex phenomenon with challenging cultural and social implications, inconsistency in the information provided by healthcare providers, individual genetic and psychological vulnerabilties and, often, maladjusted family context.
