Abstract(s)
O presente estudo aborda o modo como mulheres em posições de gestão conciliam a sua vida profissional com a vida familiar e pessoal no caso de Bragança, bem como a relevância que o efeito de género terá neste caso.
Para dar resposta às questões de investigação foi utilizada a metodologia qualitativa, em que através de entrevistas de cariz biográfico a dez mulheres se pretende compreender como é feita a conciliação entre as vertentes profissional e familiar tendo por base o método das histórias de vida.
Desta forma foi possível chegar a algumas conclusões. Neste estudo ficou percetível que as mulheres em cargos de gestão no distrito de Bragança, embora assumam a vida familiar como a mais importante, é a vida profissional à qual dedicam mais tempo e consequentemente dão mais importância. Contrariamente ao que era esperado, em vez de serem as políticas de apoio à família o fator relevante na conciliação da esfera profissional com a familiar, é o apoio prestado por terceiros que permite às entrevistadas uma conciliação mais fácil entre as duas esferas das suas vidas. A questão de género não mostrou ser um fator limitativo nos percursos profissionais das entrevistadas.
This study is part of the work-life balance topic and its main objective is to understand the relation between professional life and family life applied to women in management positions in the Bragança district, in Portugal. Another aspect was to perceive the relevance of the gender effect. In order to answer the main research questions a qualitative methodology was used, through biographical interviews to a sample of ten women. This was done to understand the work-life balance using the life story approach. Some conclusions were then reached at. One outcome of this study was that women in management positions in Bragança assume family life as relevant, but they dedicate more time and consequently give more importance to their professional life. Instead of family friendly policies, the most relevant fact to conciliate both life aspects was the support by third parties, such as family and maids, which allows these women to have an easier work-life balance in their lives. Gender issues had no relevance in this study.
