Abstract(s)
alimentares e a problemática ambiental representam.
Since the beginning of the humanity, the act of feeding it is configurated as an action that goes beyond simple physical or biological mechanics, guided by a series of meanings and rituals. One of the intrinsic characteristics of human feeding is commensality, the social act of eating with others. However, table can be assummed as a place for meeting and healthy sharing, capable to forge and strengthen interpersonal and social ties, but also as a place of rupture and segregation, settled in economical, religious and social distinctions. Through the New Testament lens, we see the common table paradigm being built by Jesus Christ, where, like in the Kingdom of God, we all have a place. That paradigm is specially threatened today by ethical and social challenges that food inequalities and environmental problems represent. In this context, Church, and also EMRC school course, has the duty to continually propose new paths and dynamics that educate to the experience of solidarity and Christian sharing. It is through the mentioned framework that we present, in this work, the contribution of “The Sharing of the Bread” teaching unit, from the 6th grade Catholic Moral and Religious Education curriculum, in order to raise awareness to the urgency of inhabiting the world in a more sober, sustainable and fraternal way.
