| dc.description.abstract | Existem milhões de pessoas forçadas a deixar o seu país de origem devido a múltiplos motivos. Dada a impossibilidade de cruzar fronteiras de forma legal, os refugiados muitas vezes têm que recorrer a smugglers. Ao longo de todo o seu percurso enfrentam experiências adversas que se traduzem em impacto e consequências. O objetivo geral deste estudo é compreender as trajetórias e narrativas dos participantes acerca do human smuggling em requerentes de asilo. A recolha de dados foi realizada no campo de refugiados de Kara Tepe, (Grécia) através de uma entrevista semiestruturada a 15 requerentes de asilo. Os principais resultados apontam para a insegurança como o principal motivo para abandonar o país de origem, assim como uma predominância da utilização da via terrestre e marítima para chegar à Grécia. Relativamente à viagem, é referido por quase todos os participantes o recurso quer à via terrestre quer à via marítima. Ao longo destas viagens são narrados os principais perigos. Ao nível do impacto psicológico percebeu-se que a exposição a experiências adversas se traduziu em medo, stress e incerteza face ao futuro. | dc.description.abstract | There are millions of people forced to leave their home country for multiple reasons. Given the impossibility of legally crossing borders, refugees often have to resort to smugglers. Throughout their journey they face adverse experiences that translate into impact and consequences. The general objective of this study is to understand participants' trajectories and narratives about human smuggling in asylum seekers. Data collection was carried out at the Kara Tepe refugee camp in Greece through a semi-structured interview with 15 asylum seekers. The main results point to insecurity as the main reason to leave the country of origin, as well as a predominance of the use of land and sea routes to reach Greece. With regard to travel, almost all participants report the use of both land and sea. Throughout these journeys are narrated the main dangers. At the level of psychological impact it was realized that exposure to adverse experiences translated into fear, stress and uncertainty towards the future. The main results identify the need to support and protect asylum seekers throughout their careers. | pt_PT |
