This report stems from the completion of the Internship of the Curricular Unit Final Internship and Report, in the contexts of the Emergency Department, Operating Room and Intensive Care areas relevant to the development of competencies for specialization in the care of a person in a critical situation, based on the regulation of common competencies of specialist nurses to obtain a master's degree in medical-surgical nursing. Great challenges are found in the care provided to the person in critical condition, which presupposes nursing interventions that directly impact health gains. Pain is a common phenomenon that generates great stress, which reinforces the importance of the qualified role of nurses in the precedence of evaluation as well as in choosing the best conduct for management and control. Given the relevance of this condition in the person in a critical situation, it justified a literature review where the importance of specialized intervention emerges according to the available scientific evidence. The reports aim to illustrate the path taken during the internship and describe the reflect activities developed in which practical skills were added. There were countless lessons learned, in the care of critically ill patients, with imminent risks to their lives or that would develop, in which their survival depends on advanced means of surveillance, monitoring and therapy, in a continuous provision of qualified care to allow the basic life functions, prevent complications and limit disabilities aiming at the patient's full recovery. The different internship fields made it possible to develop autonomy in the assessment of patients in the spaces they integrated, in emergency care, such as in surgical intervention or advanced life support, where the care plan was based on respect and the dignity of the person. , promoting quality and safety. The preparation of this report was based on the descriptive methodology, where I expose in an objective and reasoned way the entire course, demonstrating the experiences experienced, the activities developed, and the skills acquired.
