objetivos previamente propostos, explanar as diferentes atividades realizadas, as
After finishing the internship of the Family Medicine specialty, I started working in one of the oldest areas of the city of Lisbon, with a list composed of a significant number of elderly patients, where chronic, degenerative and slowly evolving diseases predominate. At this stage, with the need of more regular, close and specialized follow-up of these patients, some of them in terminal phase, I felt that I could have responded better to the needs of my patients and their families, so that they had the slightest suffering. and the best quality and comfort in this final phase of their lives. Since my pre- and post-graduate Palliative Care training was almost non-existent, I tried to update myself in a self-taught way, which was obviously scarce. It was in this sense that I enthusiastically started this Master in Palliative Care challenge, in order to acquire new skills and improve the care provided to my patients and their families. In fact, the increasing prevalence of chronic pathology inherent to the aging of our population, demonstrates how important the philosophy of palliative care is to my daily clinical practice. The possibility of performing this practical internship in a Masters context, allowed me to acquire practical experience in providing palliative care, both in hospitalization with more complex patients, and in patients at home. I was able to use in practice the theoretical knowledge taught in the first year of this master's degree, and become more comfortable in the management of palliative patients. This report aims to demonstrate the achievement of the previously proposed objectives, explain the different activities performed, the difficulties and obstacles that arose along this route. In short, it intends to prove the acquisition of skills in the fields of care, training, management and research in the area of Palliative Care.
