This report comes within the scope of the “Final Internship and Report” Curricular Unit of the 13th Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the area of Nursing for Persons in Critical Situation, at the Institute of Health Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal. The main purpose of this report is to provide visibility to the knowledge obtained during the internships, through the appreciation and critical analysis of the path which was developed. Objectives to be met and activities to be carried out were outlined, based on a descriptive, reflective and analytical methodology, allowing the acquisition/development of specialized skills. It is important to point out that all the action and thought were based on the theoretical framework of Afaf Meleis and on the “Theory of Transitions”. The internships were carried out in two specific contexts: the Operating Room and the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit which, associated with the skills previously acquired as a general care nurse, allowed the acquisition/development of new learning methodologies and skills of a technical-scientific, ethical-deontological and relational character. The nurse, as a key element in the provision of care to critically ill patients and due to their constant permanence, has a crucial role in guaranteeing the safety of the medication provided. With the purpose of improving the quality of care and for the development of knowledge, an integrative literature review was carried out, entitled “Safety Use of Medication in Critical Care Patients”. The Master's Degree, the internships and the report allowed for the acquisition of diversified knowledge, by sharing spaces for reflection and analysis of the context of nursing practices, promoting the development and support of a set of skills inherent to the provision of nursing care to persons in critical situation, based on the latest scientific evidence.
