Abstract(s)
A preocupação com os pobres não é algo novo na vida da Igreja, mas ela adquiriu com
o Concílio Vaticano II e, sobretudo, com as conferências episcopais latino-americanas (e com
a teologia da libertação), nova atualidade, novas dimensões e novas configurações,
formuladas nos termos de “Igreja dos pobres” e/ou “opção pelos pobres”. A preocupação com
os pobres sempre foi um aspeto importante na vida da Igreja. À luz do Evangelho, do
Concílio Vaticano II até ao Papa Francisco com a sua Exortação apostólica Evangelii
Gaudium, o presente trabalho quer mostrar que no centro do Evangelho cristão sempre esteve,
está e estará os pobres, os oprimidos, os marginalizados, as “periferias existenciais”. Esse
cuidado e compromisso com os pobres, oprimidos e fracos deste mundo que está no centro
das preocupações do Papa Francisco. Com ele, tudo isso ganha nova atualidade e adquire
novas dimensões e proporções na medida em que põe no centro do seu ministério pastoral o
desafio de uma “Igreja pobre para os pobres”, onde a Igreja é chamada a sair de si mesma
para ir ao encontro das periferias existenciais. O Papa Francisco desde início do seu
pontificado tem sido um desafio, não só para os cristãos em geral, mas também
particularmente para os franciscanos. Com a escolha do nome “Francisco”, que remete para o
poverello de Assis, indica um projeto de “não esquecer os pobres”. Perante os desafios atuais,
os franciscanos são desafiados a ir até às periferias com a alegria do Evangelho. Esse ir “até
às periferias com a alegria do Evangelho” expressa a decisão de fundo, que é a de sair de cada
recinto que nos tem encerrado, para levar a Boa Nova àqueles que hoje dela necessitam mais
do que nunca, com a alegria que nasce do Evangelho.
The concern for the poor is not something new in the life of the Church, but it has acquired with the Second Vatican Council and, above all, with Latin American episcopal conferences (and with liberation theology), newness, new dimensions and new configurations, formulated in terms of "Church of the poor" and / or "option for the poor". The concern for the poor has always been an important aspect of the life of the Church. In the light of the Gospel, from the Second Vatican Council to Pope Francis with his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, the present work wants to show that the center of the Christian Gospel has always been, is and will be the poor, the oppressed, the marginalized, the “existential peripheries”. This care and commitment to the poor, oppressed and weak of this world that is at the center of the concerns of Pope Francis. With it, all of this gains new relevance and acquires new dimensions and proportions in that it puts at the center of his pastoral ministry the challenge of a "poor Church for the poor", where the Church is called to leave itself to go to encounter of the existential peripheries. Pope Francis from the beginning of his pontificate has been a challenge, not only for Christians in general, but particularly for the Franciscans. By choosing the name "Francisco", which refers to the poverello of Assisi, it indicates a project of "not forgetting the poor". Faced with the current challenges, the Franciscans are challenged to go to the outskirts with the joy of the Gospel. This "going to the periphery with the joy of the Gospel" expresses the fundamental decision, which is to leave each room that has closed us, to bring the Good News to those who today need it more than ever, with the joy that born of the Gospel.
