| dc.description.abstract | O Cristianismo só chegou à África Ocidental no século XV, mas sabe-se que não foi neste período que se deu o seu primeiro contacto com o continente, pois as suas raízes estão em África. Depois de ter percorrido a Europa, vai chegar à Costa nas caravelas dos colonizadores, que tinham a missão de converter os “pagãos” e de impor a fé. A primeira vaga de evangelização não teve sucesso por falhas de método. Só nos finais do século XVIII e início do XIX é que a evangelização começa a fazer-se sentir, através dos missionários enviados pelas congregações missionárias fundadas nessa época. A congregação de Libermann destaca-se pela sua proximidade para com os negros, na luta pela libertação dos escravos e na integração dos libertos. Os negros eram os miseráveis do seu tempo. Hoje o Papa Francisco pede à Igreja uma nova saída, ir às periferias e trazer os pobres e excluídos para o centro. O seu plano de reforma, expresso sobretudo na Evangelii Gaudium, tem muito de comum com aquilo que Libermann propôs aos seus missionários, e desafia as igrejas da Costa Ocidental Africana a traçar o seu próprio plano de ação. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Christianity only arrived in West Africa in the 15th century, but it is known that it was not its first contact with the continent, as its roots are in Africa. After having traveled to Europe, he will arrive on the Coast in the caravels of the colonizers, who had the mission of converting the "pagans" and imposing the faith. The first wave of evangelization was unsuccessful because of failures of the method. It was only at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century that evangelization began to be felt through the missionaries sent by the missionary congregations founded at that time. Libermann's congregation stands out for its proximity to blacks, in the struggle for the liberation of slaves and in the integration of the freedmen. Black people were the wretches of their time. Today Pope Francis asks the Church for a new way out, to go to the peripheries and to bring the poor and excluded to the center.
