Abstract(s)
Pediatric palliative care presupposes holistic care for children, young people and their families where the promotion of hope is an essential dimension of this care, since it positively influences the way they deal with child-specific care and situations of exacerbation or progression of disease. Thus, the Nursing Specialist in Child and Youth Health Nursing has the function of promoting the adaptation of the child, youth and family to complex chronic disease, potentially fatal or limiting of life, as well as the development of strategies that promote hope, level of emotional, formative and instrumental support. This internship report is presented in the scope of the Master Course in Nursing of a Professional Nature in the Area of Specialization in Child and Pediatric Health and its main objective is to describe and analyze in a reflective way the training course developed in the Curricular Unit. The methodology used was descriptive, analytical and reflexive of the skills acquired and developed, as well as the objectives outlined and the activities carried out in the various contexts of the clinical practice where the stage was held, supported by a theoretical framework that supported the theme selected for this report. The in-depth theme in the modules of the Internship Course was the promotion of hope in pediatric palliative care. In each context of action, needs, established goals and activities were identified with the aim of promoting the hope of children or young and their families in pediatric palliative care.
