A pandemia de COVID19 teve um enorme impacto na economia mundial e muitas empresas tiveram de se adaptar para fazer face à crise que dela resultou. O setor equestre viu-se a braços com desafios nunca antes sentidos e teve de se reinventar para conseguir sobreviver e ultrapassar as adversidades. A resposta do setor foi, no geral, em linha com aquilo que a literatura elencava como boas práticas de gestão de crise, no entanto, nem todas os resultados tiveram os efeitos desejados. A Coudelaria Vila Nova, enquanto empresa representativa deste setor, usou várias medidas do ponto de vista financeiro e operacional, com o objetivo de tentar minimizar os efeitos da crise e criar condições para a sua prosperidade nos períodos subsequentes a estes eventos. A capacidade de inovação e adaptação revelou-se crucial para a subsistência desta empresa, que viria a recuperar e até melhorar a sua condição no mercado após a reabertura da atividade económica.
The COVID19 pandemic had a great impact in the global economy, forcing many companies to adapt in order to deal with the crisis that it created. The equestrian sector had to deal with challenges never faced before, having to reinvent itself so that it could survive and thrive. The sector’s response was, in general, aligned with what the literature considered good practices when dealing with crisis is concerned. Nevertheless, not all the actions had the expected outcomes. Coudelaria Vila Nova, as a representative enterprise in this sector, used multiple measures, both operational and financial, aiming to minimize the effects of this crisis and to set the tone for its prosperity beyond the crisis. The adaptability and the ability to innovate turned out to be crucial for the survival of this company and would be the cornerstone for the building of a more robust enterprise for the future.
