Sexual behavior is an integral part of the risk behavior of individuals in the most varied age groups. Its primary nature poses no health risk. However, failure to use an effective barrier against infections that may result from such contact indicates a risk factor for the health of individuals. In this context it is known that women are most susceptible to developing infections and subsequently develop complications more often than men. The literature indicates that women are biologically, culturally and socioeconomically more vulnerable. Simultaneously and due to the changes, that have taken place in recent times, it is fundamental to analyze the role of gender, context and health. With regard to mental health, literature has shown that this factor influences sexual risk behaviors.
